Prayer Of The Day

James 1
1JAMES, A servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes scattered abroad [among the Gentiles in the dispersion]: Greetings ([a]rejoice)!
2Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.

3Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.

4But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.

5If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.

6Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.

7For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord,

8[For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides].

9Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his elevation [as a Christian, called to the true riches and to be an heir of God],

10And the rich [person ought to glory] in being humbled [by being shown his human frailty], because like the flower of the grass he will pass away.

11For the sun comes up with a scorching heat and parches the grass; its flower falls off and its beauty fades away. Even so will the rich man wither and die in the midst of his pursuits.(A)

12Blessed (happy, [c]to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor's] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.

13Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; for God is incapable of being tempted by [what is] evil and He Himself tempts no one.

14But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).

15Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death.

16Do not be misled, my beloved brethren.

17Every good gift and every perfect ([d]free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].

18And it was of His own [free] will that He gave us birth [as sons] by [His] Word of Truth, so that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures [a sample of what He created to be consecrated to Himself].

19Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry.

20For man's anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires].

21So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.

22But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].

23For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror;

24For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like.

25But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience).

26If anyone thinks himself to be religious (piously observant of the external duties of his faith) and does not bridle his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person's religious service is worthless (futile, barren).

27External [e]religious worship [[f]religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world.

The book of James is compared to the Old Testament book of Proverbs

2 Corinthians 4
1THEREFORE, SINCE we do hold and engage in this ministry by the mercy of God [granting us favor, benefits, opportunities, and especially salvation], we do not get discouraged (spiritless and despondent with fear) or become faint with weariness and exhaustion.
2We have renounced disgraceful ways (secret thoughts, feelings, desires and underhandedness, the methods and arts that men hide through shame); we refuse to deal craftily (to practice trickery and cunning) or to adulterate or handle dishonestly the Word of God, but we state the truth openly (clearly and candidly). And so we commend ourselves in the sight and presence of God to every man's conscience.

3But even if our Gospel (the glad tidings) also be hidden (obscured and covered up with a veil that hinders the knowledge of God), it is hidden [only] to those who are perishing and obscured [only] to those who are spiritually dying and veiled [only] to those who are lost.

4For the god of this world has blinded the unbelievers' minds [that they should not discern the truth], preventing them from seeing the illuminating light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ (the Messiah), Who is the Image and Likeness of God.

5For what we preach is not ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves [merely] as your servants (slaves) for Jesus' sake.

6For God Who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts so as [to beam forth] the Light for the illumination of the knowledge of the majesty and glory of God [as it is manifest in the Person and is revealed] in the face of Jesus Christ (the Messiah).(A)

7However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves.

8We are hedged in (pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out, but not driven to despair;

9We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone]; we are struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed;

10Always carrying about in the body the liability and exposure to the same putting to death that the Lord Jesus suffered, so that the [[a]resurrection] life of Jesus also may be shown forth by and in our bodies.

11For we who live are constantly [experiencing] being handed over to death for Jesus' sake, that the [resurrection] life of Jesus also may be evidenced through our flesh which is liable to death.

12Thus death is actively at work in us, but [it is in order that [c]our] life [may be actively at work] in you.

13Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, I have believed, and therefore have I spoken. We too believe, and therefore we speak,(B)

14Assured that He Who raised up the Lord Jesus will raise us up also with Jesus and bring us [along] with you into His presence.

15For all [these] things are [taking place] for your sake, so that the more grace (divine favor and spiritual blessing) extends to more and more people and multiplies through the many, the more thanksgiving may increase [and redound] to the glory of God.

16Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.

17For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

18Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.

I love the word so much. It can minister to you in so many ways.

Lord I pray that as we aproach Christmas that everyone is not feeling overwhelmed or steessed out. I hope we all try and remember what the true meaning of Christmas is and that it is all about you and giving. Giving from the heart. I focus on your birth and what you coming into this world is all about. You gave the ultimate gift to me Amen and God bless.

I have been shoping all day the crowds are out in full force. Lord thank you for a nice day and no stress.

Be blessed and be a blessing

Luke 2
1IN THOSE days it occurred that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole [a]Roman empire should be registered.
2This was the first enrollment, and it was made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.

3And all the people were going to be registered, each to his own city or town.

4And Joseph also went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the town of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

5To be enrolled with Mary, his espoused (married) wife, who was about to become a mother.(A)

6And while they were there, the time came for her delivery,

7And she gave birth to her Son, her Firstborn; and she wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room or place for them in the inn.

8And in that vicinity there were shepherds living [out under the open sky] in the field, watching [in shifts] over their flock by night.

9And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord flashed and shone all about them, and they were terribly frightened.

10But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people.

11For to you is born this day in the town of David a Savior, Who is Christ (the Messiah) the Lord!(B)

12And this will be a sign for you [by which you will recognize Him]: you will find [[c]after searching] a Baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. [I Sam. 2:34; II Kings 19:29; Isa. 7:14.]

13Then suddenly there appeared with the angel an army of the troops of heaven ([d]a heavenly knighthood), praising God and saying,

14Glory to God in the highest [heaven], and on earth peace among men with whom He is well pleased [[e]men of goodwill, of His favor].

15When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing ([f]saying) that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.

16So they went with haste and [[g]by searching] found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in a manger.

17And when they saw it, they made known what had been told them concerning this Child,

18And all who heard it were astounded and marveled at what the shepherds told them.

19But Mary was keeping [h]within herself all these things (sayings), weighing and pondering them in her heart.

20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, just as it had been told them.

I pray for those who are alone and lonely this time of year. If you are feeling sad reach out to the Lord he will confort you. He will wrap you in his loving arms and give you what you need. If I can pray with you for any reason please let me know Amen.

Be blessed and be a blessing

I'm up to Joshua now in the Bible. It was interesting reading about Jericho and how that played out. :)

As we get closer to Christmas I hope everyone is starting to feel closer to why we as Christians celebrate this day. Although Christ was not born on Dec. 25 we have chosen to acknowledge this day as a day to remember his perfect gift to us. I am so thankful for his birth and his gift to me. I know we can get caught up in the commercialism but stop and remember a Savior was born to save us. What a perfect gift.Amen

I have just been all over today in other threads and sites so I need to stop now and give glory to my heavenly Father and spend time with him. I think about life and how blessed I am and that will never change as long as I serve Jesus. I will face trials and tribulations in my life but he has promised to be with me through it all and because of that I am blessed. Take the time to remember who you are in Christ. A child of God an heir to the throne.Amen.

Be blessed and be a blessing.

Lord I just want to lift up everyone today who will be traveling for Christmas and ask that you keep them all safe. I also pray that everyone has a blessed day and remember he is the reason for the season. Also a special prayer for everyone who is sufferring with illness or pain in any way. In Jesus name I pray Amen.

I won't be here for a few days so take care everyone and have a very Merry Christmas

Cindy

I do hope everyone is having a merry Christmas. I am back home and have to catch up on my sweeps but had to take the time to be grateful for all the blessings in my life. All the gifts in the world can't come close to the gift of Jesus Amen.

Wow I am just so grateful to be able to spend time with my daughters this coming weekend. They both live in different cities but I am going to Austin to have our Christmas get together. Lord thank you for my daughters. They are the best thing I have ever done in my life. I know they are your children just like me so thanks for allowing them to be in my life Amen.

Be blessed and be a blessing

Titus 2 Chapters 11-14

11For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind.

12It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world,

13Awaiting and looking for the [fulfillment, the realization of our] blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

14Who gave Himself on our behalf that He might redeem us (purchase our freedom) from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people [to be peculiarly His own, people who are] eager and enthusiastic about [living a life that is good and filled with] beneficial deeds.(A)

15Tell [them all] these things. Urge (advise, encourage, warn) and rebuke with full authority. Let no one despise or disregard or think little of you [conduct yourself and your teaching so as to command respect].

We have become a new creation in Christ and my prayer is to continue to grow into his likeness in the new year Amen.

Try and think back through 2007 and think about what has changed in your life over the year. My life has been pretty stable for the last several years so I thank the Lord for no major illnesses or any serious heartbreak. I know life can change in an instant but with God on my side I can face anything. I am not saying it will be easy but if I continue to strengthen my faith I will make it through to the other side. Thank you Lord for the other side Amen.

So to 2008 may we all be blessed beyond measure and may we all be a blessing to someone. I look forward to what God has in store for me and I will praise him no matter what.

Hello everyone. I am back from a trip to my daughters home. Had a wonderful time. On the way home I was listening to a song you all may know. I can only imagine by Mercy me. I started thinking I can't imagine where I'd be if I did not know the Lord. I can honestly tell you I would not be alive today if I did not know how loved I really am. It is such a wonderful feeling to know when I am depressed and lonely I can turn to him and be comforted. I can't imagine life without Jesus and I never will Amen.

My prayer for today is that if anyone is planing on drinking tonight that they don't drive. Also I ask Lord that you watch over yours tonight to keep them safe from harm Amen.
