1/2 a prize?

I was wondering if anyone has ever won and taken 1/2 the prize, like the cash but not the trip. Do sponsors allow you to do that?
 
It will usually be noted in the rules that you must take the whole prize, or decline it. They usually will not substitute $$$ for a trip, and will re-award it to someone who will use the whole prize :)
