worst convention ever.

LOTS OF COMPLAINTS AND DISAPPOINTMENT

Thursday there was a cash bar, a bit of chtter then we sat there for 2 hours chatting. BORING waste of time and they did not try to entertain or get guests to interact.

NO BREAKFAST so i had to go get my own breakfast.

Instead of giving out 50 prizes worth $20 each they wasted the whole day playing games and few people stayred but rather went out of the room AS IT WAS BORING and dissapointing as out of 900 people maybe 50 winners.

No planning and no help for guests. The raffle was so screwed up that I walked out as it was not worth my money.

CHAMPY yo where are you

Wow, it all I have to say..... I feel soo bad for one of my girls who went with us, we pumped up this convention all year and what a let down... We left early everyday (by a few hours)... no music, no entertainment, nadda..... a bunch of finger tapping wondering "ummm ok, what next".... very shocked it went the way it did....Not many prizes at all and the ones that were given out were donated from sweeps clubs....maybe 2 laptops 1 small 32" tv.... those were the only "big" prizes given out to a crowd of 1075 people who each took the time to come up.....

Ohhh yea... thanks for sitting at our table Kts :cussing:

Anywho, the fun part to be quite honest was staying out on the Riverwalk finding bars & food....

San Antonio is boringggggggggggggggggggggggg.... Definately won't be goin to any "TEXAS CONVENTIONS" again........ To be honest (again) we're all glad to be home....

Hi Churchy girl.... glad 2 have met ya and a huge congrats on your Xbox360 win.....

 What a disappointment to people going for the first time. Why would they go again? Sorry to hear that it didn't live up to all the hype.

Champagne, et al...

My husband, Bob, and I were there on Friday. We got there from Austin at 7 a.m. I couldn't find you (remember, I only had you first name), so we registered and then went to have breakfast in the hotel, not at the convention. My husband only went to the convention because I COULD NOT walk and sit around by myself because I have had a stroke and I have aphasia, which means that I CANNOT talk too well.

We sat by ourselves because I could not find you or anybody.

And, we left about 3 p.m. because this was not what I/we expected. I worked for several state associations where we put on conventions, and this was the most boring convention that I have ever seen. I went to many Texas Press Association conventions, too, and they gave educational and exciting things to do and see.

The guest speaker (Feinman?) was good and the survey answers, but that's all.

I did not think it was worth my, and my husband's, time to stay. My husband took time off from his job just to go with me, and I didn't think it was fair to him to stay. And, we didn't go back on Saturday or Sunday.

So, this will be the only sweepstakes convention that I'll ever go to, that's for sure. I was so disappointed.

Girl the tables were numbered, that's how we all found where to sit on saturdays banquet lunch thingy.... they gave you your number on the front of your convention folder at the time of check-in...... oh we..

But don't say you will never goooo to another sweeps convention.... they are all different,... this one topping the top 10 of most boring, i'm sure..... all i'm saying is don't hand your cards in over this one, I'm sure that future clubs putting on the next conventions will definately go out of their way to ensure theirs is fun and exciting after attending this one....

Champagne, et al,

We didn't go back for the banquet on Saturday - we were only there on Friday.

I went out for a smoke several times on Friday and I talked to several people - they expressed disappointment over the convention, too.

Congratulations to you and Churchy - you WON!!!!!! :headbang:

Kate

ATTENTION FOLKS

How many of you were in previous conventions?

I sat with people who did the cruise for example and were at past conventions.

THIS WAS NOT A NORMAL CONVENTION AND YOU SHOULD GO TO THE NEXT ONE.

THE NEW HAMPSHIRE PEOPLE ARE HARD WORKING PEOPLE WHO ALREADY HAVE ONE OF THE BEST CONVENTIONS PLANNED.

They have for us in New Hampshire lots of learning they got from the pros of conventions. They offer us pancake breakfast, barbeque buffet, a baseball game, and two days of fireworks. Check their site out and you will see that the next one will be like the past ones.

MOLINE
Does anyone remember them endlessly calling names of prizes, the parties, the riverboat cruise and the entertainment? Does anyone remember the entertainment and fun at other sweeps. I remember and cherish my Moline trip.

SAN ANTONIO WAS A FAILURE
1. Few small prizes like hats, t-shirts, cups, and other trinkets. Most of the prizes were donated and the biggest prizes outside of donations was the television and some laptops. As far as I can see there was only one prize worth over $1000 that was not a vendor, donation or raffle prize.
2. The games were fun but for those who were not called they had to sit the up to 15 minutes or more for the next round.
3. The games failed like key turn that did not work, pinatas that did not break, and rule breaking or confusion on how to play the game.
4. The mystery about fans being numbered and being part of a game.
5. The blank cards were for us to work fillng them for 10 winners. I cannot write well so I messed all of mine up.
6. We were told the cards were either to write questions or for notes.
7. The boxes for the questions were not properly marked
8. WHERE THE HECK WAS SWEEPSADVANTAGE?
9. Why wasnt a rep from SA on the board?
10. Ken could have gotten me or someone to rep the site. I can be good in theory.
11. WHY WAS OLS GIVEN TWO SEATS ON THE BOARD?
12. WHY WAS ROBERT AND GWEN PUSHING OLS DOWN EVERYONE'S THROAT.
13. I AM GETTING MAD AND WILL TRY TO FIND CAPS UNLOCKER.
14. It was only a couple blocks manure. For the disabled it was nearly impossible to walk to the discount parking site, the mall, wal-mart, and other places.
15. I was there 5 days and have to pay almost $150 in parking which was more than the cost of my Dodge Avenger.
16. NO ENTERTAINMENT
17. NO ARRANGEMENT OR TAXIS, BUSSES ETC.
18. NO BULLETIN BOARDS TO LET PEOPLE CONTACT EACH OTHER.
19 THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PRIZE ROOM WHERE EVERYONE MET TO GIFT, DONATE OR TRADE ITEMS.
20. WHERE THE HECK WAS THE POSTCARD SWAPPING THING?
21. NOBODY COULD FIND THE TIME OF THE POSTCARD SWAPPING THING, EVEN PROS WHO ARE VENDORS.
22. i had to drive about 20 miles a day to go to an internet cafe with men who cussed and screamed while playing the game. Next year I hope to win a lap top and help people out. THE BLEEPING MARRIOT CHARGES ABOUT $28 AN HOUR TO GET ONLINE.
23. THERE WAS NO BREAKFAST SERVED EXCEPT FOR JUICE, COFFEE AND TEA.
24. WHAT THE HECK DOES GLUTEN FREE MEAN.
25. I begged this old man to stop touching his flour tortilla but he keep banging the tongs and contaminated the beef fajitas.
26. NO BUFFET SEVICE AND IDIOTS. The disabled people BEGGED OVER AND OVER for plates, set ups, cole slaw and enchiladas. Kelly and I went to the disabled line while the others sat waiting for their number to be called. She went to the bathroom then came back as I and others stood in line waiting. The staff would not bring out fresh stuff for the disabled and we waited about 20 minutes for the cole slaw, set ups and dishes.
27. Banquest staff was not prepared to handle GF and other special diets.
28. Danish is not breakfast for diabetics, low carbs, and those with allergies.
29. COST OF FOOD AT THE HOTEL WAS SKY HIGH.

time out for a good word about the nice staff like maids, valets, manager and bell boys.

30. WHY WAS BRENT RILEY ALLOWED TO RUN THE CONVENTION AND BE SO PROMINENT.
31. I COULD NOT DO THE RAFFLES BECAUSE OF THE COST OF THE TRIP. $260 for air fare and baggage, $140 and about $120 for rooms, about $125 for car. Meals about 10 to 25 each. PARKING $29 NOT $27 THAT IS FALSELY ADVERTISED. omg the parking cost more than the rooms or the car or most of my meals.
32. It was a long walk for the disabled to get to the vender room.
33. The staff of the convention should have been more helpful with the disabled.
34. MEET AND GREET, what the heck was that? We watched a repeating video for 2 hours and sat there doing nothing. Cash bar. How about next time you visit a nice baptist church and get them people to cater you a nice meet and greet. I guess they could not afford a can of soda pop and a bag of chips. It was extremely dissapointing to many who showed up on Wednesday when they might as well showed up on Thursday, registered then gone to the zoo.
35. The zoo was a 15 minute ride and the major parks were closed part of the time.
36. NO TRIPS like Moline had a river cruise and San Diego had trips to a casino.

I am tired and this vacation has left me with many good memories but it was a FAILURE and I did find some yummy food.

PLEASE GO TO THE NEXT CONVENTION AS CHURCHY PROMISES IT WILL BE BETTER.

Wow! I wanted to go so badly, but I am glad that this wasn't my first one! I am hoping that someday soon they will have one closer to Kentucky where maybe I can drive! Nashville would be nice, or St. Louis even!

I hate that it was such a downer for you guys! Sorry!

We haven't decided yet if we're going to next year's one or not. It's easily within driving distance, but we are also looking for land down in Florida. So, we'll see.

Mooooooo!!!

The convention stunk but people like Champagne were out partying hearty instead of sleeping through the stupid games. We all had something good at the convention like I found yummy bread and sawy the park.

Champagne was trying to out drink Brent and his motley crew, lol. I think this time we really had a chance of winning, lol.

Those games were a waste of time... and then to only pick 30 names out of 1075... wth :cussing: .... That's why we took off everyday hours before each daily convention thingy ended.... Ohhh expect the day of the raffles .....

Churchy, girl, I wasn't tryin' to out drink what's his name, I could care less about him and his irritating zzz clan.... me and girls were there for 1 thing... 2 parta... haha...
