It's in Minnesota...... :sunny: Please see the link listed below:

http://www.mn2010.org/

I will definately be there... I love these things... So friggin' fun....

I've been to (2) of them: Michigan & Texas!!

My experience is that each and every one of these events depend on who is putting them together. That will determine the list of events daily, area the convention to be held at, etc.... They usually have guest speakers, vendors selling sweepstake items, and everyone's favorite... LOTS AND LOTS OF PRIZESSSSSSSSS.......We only missed this one that was over the 4th of July weekend because we were out of town or you better believe we would have been there too.... Can't for the one in 2010 my husband and I are definately booking....

Thanks Vicki for the update on the convention!! Wish I could have been there. Right from the beginning, it sounded like it was going to be good, and well planned. Can't wait for 2010 in MN!! :headbang: I'm from Wisconsin, so this is close enough for my first. Have not registered just yet, but hopefully sometime soon. Thanks Champagne for the registration link. Sounds like I could be seeing you there!! :sunny: Have a Good Evening All!!

The convention in Minnesota will be my sixth!

Each convention is designed, organized and run by hosts for that convention. That means that there are similarities between the conventions but each one is unique, different, new and fun!!!!

I believe that any sweeper would enjoy each and every convention since the opportunity to spend a weekend with a room full of sweepers is worth the trip and anything else is a bonus!

We went to our first in Moline and had so much fun that we bid for and ran the one in New Hampshire this past July. Maybe some of you will attend the convention in MN and become a future convention host!

So, who from SA is going? We are, not sure if the "girl crew" is coming with me this year, but hubby is (by force of course) lol...

Mods: Can we make this a sticky? and change the title to 2010 Sweepstake Convention? This is always a great topic to keep us members involved in. Thanks :sunny:

I'm in Cali too "Z"... We're getting on a plane... Can't wait.... I know registration for the cheaper price has to be in sometime in Nov. I'll have to look it back up.... I've been on trip advisor to see Things we can do while there (Great resturants, Great bars, etc.)... Not sure if we're going to stay all 4 days, still up-in-the-air...

Mods - Thank you for moving this to a stickyyyyyyy :sunny:

Hmmmm

airfare $250 .... hotel $300 .... registration $250 .... expenses $300

looks like I won't be going!

( :crazytongue: :crazytongue: UNLESS YOU START A "SEND LOREN TO MINNEAPOLIS" TRUST FUND! :crazytongue: :crazytongue: )

For those of you that CAN afford to go... I say GOOOOOOOO.... the conventions are soooo much fun!!

I actually think the sweepstakes convention fees are reasonable and aren't an outrageous fee......

*The amount of prizes given away during the sweepstakes convention are off the hook (tons and tons of prizes all weekend long). And the prizes are GOOD ONES!!
*Lots of motivational speakers we sweepers need to keep on going and entering. :headbang:
*Lots of vendors selling all kinds of sweepstake products and "good luck" charms of all sorts. :headbang:
*You get to meet other sweepers who share your passion for our wonderful hobby. (Even fellow SA members) :headbang:
*A great time to travel and take a vacation too, not just there for a convention. You're also there to sight-see, eat good food, and see what's outside the state you live in. :headbang:

If I didn't have this new job and have my 1 yr. anniversary trip already booked (we are going to the Dominican Republic for 8days/7nights :sunny: :sunny:), we would DEFINITELY be going.

If any SA members have the chance to go this year (and every year on).... GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Wish I could go but I just can't afford a trip this year. Unless, of course, I can win some airline tickets!

I couldn't even go to the one in NH and that's right next door!

I hope everyone who goes has lots of fun and comes home with some great prizes. Maybe I'll get to go another year!

If I win my dream car I am going but that is a big IF?????
Sigh I just found out you cannot drive an ATV on my states roads so no convention yet unless???? I win a car :sunny: :sunny:

Below is a list of Raffles that will be offered at this years convention....How some SA members will be in the house...

.

Entries will be accepted in the Vendor room at the convention. A “No Purchase Necessary” method of entering all of these raffles will be available in the future.

Here's what I found on the Convention website:

"No Purchase Necessary"

In order to comply with state and federal gambling regulations, a “No Purchase Necessary” element will be inserted or required into all drawings and sweepstakes sponsored by the convention and its vendors.number (at least ten) of Mail-In Entries will be added to Registration Method Entries for sweepstakes and drawings. Entries by Mail-In Method are eligible for a second chance drawing for unclaimed prizes. Limit of one prize per household for Mail-In Method. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Rules for a Mail-in "No Purchase Necessary" method of entering the drawings and sweepstakes will be available approximately July 1, 2010. This is an alternative to the Registration Method of entering the drawings, raffles and sweepstakes. Persons who have registered may also submit one entry per household in the "No Purchase Necessary" drawing.

They also have to pay everyone helping with the convention, pay for the use of the hotel to host their convention, buy tons of prizes to give away.....

Not sure what that would come out to in the end as profit... but still sure does seem like they may be making out on these....

Actually, my heart is broken that I can't attend this one...

Last year I couldn't go becuase it was the same time during my wedding week...

Now this year I can't go becuase I have a new job, I don't feel comfortible asking for the time off... I already am gonna be gone for a week celebrating my 1 year anniversary and I'm very scared to tell my employer that I won't be in those days... :boxing:

If you pay for the room, i'd say it's up to you whether or not you want your friend to give YOU some cash down toward the room...

Many people going to the conventions do bunk up to help save on the cost of the room all together...

But @ $99 a night... I think that is a steal of a deal... :sunny:

This will be my second convention. I went to the San Antonio one last year and made out like a bandit. I won about $2500 worth of postcard postage. I've been snail mailing like crazy and haven't even made a dent in the amount of stamps I have! LOL! Plus, I got to meet Judy McCurdy from Sweeping America (snail mail newsletter), who gave a great presentation, I made a couple of really great friends, and learned a whole lot about a hobby I thought I knew inside and out! LOL! This year I'm going free because I won one of the 50 Delta Vacations, which will pay for the airfare for me and my DH and for the hotel. Pretty awesome! I ADORE this hobby!!!!

I hope to see a lot of SAers there. I wonder if there's any way we can identify ourselves? For San Antonio, the Sweeping America subscribers put a snail sticker on the convention badges we all wore. Maybe I'll put "SA" in the other corner. Look out for me - I'd love to meet y'all in person!

The $95 would be for instance, if my husband, who isn't going to participate in the convention itself, still wanted to eat all his meals with me and the other convention-goers. If you're going to attend any of the convention itself, you pay $250, which includes $95 worth of meals. Did I say that right? Hope to see you there!
