Well, I live in L.A. and am wondering if some sort of deal can be worked out because I live within minutes of the venue. Anyone ever have a similar situation? I don't need the airfare so I don't want to provided a lesser value of the grand prize because of where I reside.
 
Most of the time, the rules of the sweepstakes will state how prize distribution will be handled if the winner lives within 250 miles of the destination. You may wish to revisit the rules. Also, sometimes, there is no additional monies awarded in lieu of not having to pay for travel. Instead, your tax liability would just be reduced as the reported amount of the prize would be less.
