I emailed them regarding the problem with so many people receiving the winning screen, and here is what they responded with:

Incident Report May 14, 2007.

Program:

3M Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape “You’re Gonna Like What You See” consumer
instant win promotion.

At approximately 11:30am Friday May 11, 2007. We became aware that the
promotional website supporting the Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape “You’re
Gonna Like What You See” consumer instant win promotion was experiencing a
technical error. This error resulted in illegitimate winning notifications
to consumers playing the instant win game.

The technical error began at 10:50 am Friday May 11, 2007.
The error was resolved at 12:37 pm the same day (Friday May 11, 2007).

The game players affected received a winning notice but may have been
unable to submit their claim information. All error messages involved the
Fuji digital camera prize.

Currently, we are examining the situation in an effort to determine a
resolution for those valid game plays that took place during the affected
time.

If you believe that you (the consumer) had a valid game play during this
time and received a winning notification, 3M will take your information to
validate against the log of entries.

Name
Email address used to play the game.
Address (street, city, state, zip).
Daytime phone number.

We plan to get back in contact with all affected entries within 1 to 2
weeks.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Your interest in and use of 3M products is appreciated.

Sweepsters, I called the 800 number listed in this forum for 3M. They took all my information and said someone would be getting back to me in 1-2 weeks. They were very nice about it, too. Got to give them credit for addressing the problem. KEEP ON SWEEPIN'! :smt024

I called them yesterday and told them I had a winning screen but hadn't heard from them. She took down the info as to my name, etc. I told her the screen said a digi camera and asked if there was a problem and she said "not necessarily" and that they would be getting in touch with me in a week or two. I have a feeling if there weren't too many that won, maybe they will honor it. She didn't act at all like there was any kind of a problem. She was very nice. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I wish they would make up their mind. I havent played since the 11th. Just in case. I dont want to get DQ. They said 1-2 weeks right? Did they have any idea when they would make a decision.

Ron, the man that I talked to, said that they had passed on the information to their marketing dept and that they had not made a decision. He also said that he would send a note to them informing them that people are waiting for an answer. I hope he can light a match under them :smt074 to get them to act.

Just got an email from them. They said the glitch happened for 3 hrs time period. They are going to add 10 more cameras and put the names of those of us who "won" during that time period in a drawing. So 10 out of the bunch will get a camera and rest will get nothing. I was kinda hoping they would just give everyone something of lesser value than the camera, all would win something. At least we now know. Didn't say how many would be in this drawing. Imagine quite a few.

On the morning of Friday, May 11 2007, the technology partner supporting our Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape “You’re Gonna Like What You See” promotion website experienced a brief technical failure. Our records indicate that you registered at the promotion site during this period and you may have been shown a “Winner” page due to the technical error. All error messages involved the Fuji digital camera prize.

We corrected the technical failure as quickly as possible, limiting the error to a three hour window. Additionally, we want to make sure that all participants who may have been affected by this technical error are treated appropriately in accordance with the Official Rules for the “You’re Gonna Like What You See” promotion. The official rules can be viewed at www.scotch-blue.com/likewhatyousee

We sincerely apologize for any confusion that this error may have caused. We would like to inform you that we have added ten additional Fuji digital cameras to the prize pool and will award those ten cameras through a separate random drawing from those entries received on Friday, May 11 during the short period affected by the programming anomaly. This drawing will be completed on or about June 19, 2007 and you will be notified whether or not you were selected by as prize winner by June 29, 2007. If you are selected as a winner, you will be asked to provide your complete name and shipping address to receive the prize.

Though such programming failures are rare, we understand they can create confusion and frustration. Again, we apologize and strive to address your concerns quickly and professionally.

I, too, received this email. They said the drawing would happen on June 19th and that we would be notified if we had won. :smt026

Now, I'm worried. I called in my info and have not received any email from them. Hope I am at least gonna be in the drawing! :smt011 Anybody else submit info and NOT receive the email? :smt017

I guess if we don't hear from them by June 30th, we can start playing again. It ends 9/30 think. We will have at least 3 months to try again. There has got to be several hundred in that drawing. 180 minutes glitch time. Hope someone on this site wins one.
