Hello everyone- I am a newbie- love the site. Hoping for some Big or small wins.
Just started entering Sweeps around Thanksgiving.

Wanted to ask the more experienced Sweepers-

How Long did it take to win cumulative prizes over $1,000 and what were your methods?
How many sweeps or hours/ per day?

Thanks in advance for the replies

 First congrats for finding sa, it is an awesome site. 2nd. Basically 5 months, and I had won over $1,000 worth of stuff. It took me almost 10 months and I won my first trip worth $3,000.
I think it just depends, how much you enter, etc, etc. If you really want to win enter anything all the time. But if you want to win stuff you really want. Then choose wisely how you use your time, and enter mostly the stuff you want.
I waste alot of my time entering for little prizes, etc, thats why I win more little prizes. I really hate entering dailys, they drive me nuts, takes me so long to do those. My favs are one entrys and instant wins.
Just take your time, and enter enter enter. And do alot of samples first, that way if you dont win for a while, you will still be getting stuff in the mail. :)

Welcome!

I had been sweeping off and on before joining any sweeping sites but, in 2004 I joined another site/forum and in 2005, I won a prize worth over $24,000 from an instant win. In 2006, I won a check for $1,000 from Celebritycafe.com. The thing is, you have to be persistant, never give up and you can't just enter a few and think your going to win. It's going to take a lot of time and patience. Some people give up once they become frustrated. It took me 6 solid and faithful months before I won my first prize in 2004.

Make sure you enter your instant win games faithfully, everyday. That is where 99% of my wins come from.

Good luck to you!!

I won within 3 months. I won my first Grand Prize almost exactly 3 months of starting sweepstakes, and then another GP the very next month. The first year I won almost 20,000 in prizes. My family laughed at me when I first started...they don't anymore!!

4 years ago when I started sweeping, my very first win, after less than a week of sweeping was a win from Rosetta Stone for a trip anywhere in the world I wanted to go. I chose Rome Italy.
Since then I average around $25 to $30 thousand a year in wins. I enter around 600 sweeps a day.
Now last year I dropped down to about 200 sweeps a day due to illness in my Family, and my wins also dropped dramatically. But I have pulled my entries back up and the wins have been rolling in ever since. Already this year (since Jan 1) I have won an autographed Fender Stratacaster Guitar ($2000), a Dirt Devil Cruz ($105), a couple MP3 downloads(a total of about $10), a cookbook with one of my recipes printed inside ($30 plus bragging rights), a coupon for free food ($10), perfume ($35), and a box of 500 assorted cards (thank you, birthday etc) all hand painted and autographed by the artist) ($ unknown)
so my advice to you, enter, enter, enter and then enter some more!

Hmmm, I'm not sure because I don't track my wins by $$$ value - I just keep a calendar book and write them in on it.

It did take me about 4 - 6 months of daily entering of 150+ IW and daily/wkly/monthly sweeps to win something other than a "gimme" ( an IW with numerous small prizes almost everyone wins from :crazytongue: ) but then I started winning pretty regularly, so maybe it took me about 8 - 10 months to hit over $1000???

Sweeping is a hobby that is all about timing. Especially for those elusive instants! IF you enter at the exact right moment, you will win. If not? Sad to say you won't. But I assure you - it's nothing personal, and those who win a lot don't have any "secrets" - they are just consistent, persistent, and patient. :)

The sweepers credo? Enter and forget it. Always be happy for those that win - even when they win "your" prize  - and be positive you will win.

Reminding myself of the sweepers credo is how I keep my positive attitude, and my sanity.

I really believe that if you go into it thinking you can't win, well, you'll MAKE yourself right so often you'll start believing it!!! I truly do believe you have to have a positive attitude - don't get hung up on what others are doing - just focus on entering, then move on to something else - like posting so we can get to know you!!!

Hang in there - and enter, enter, enter - you'll be posting a win before you know it!!! And remember - every day brings new opportunities to win!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Thanks for the excellent replies- this seems like a great community.
I will keep you posted on my progress. I really wish I had heard about this site 3 years ago. Lol

Thanks again

Doug

Since I just started sweeping again after many years of being absent from this site, I haven't hit a big one YET . My last big win was in 1999 when I won a vw beetle on the internet. Before that, many little wins and it was a year from starting to sweep that I won the car.

Wow bunnytoes- one Grand Prize within 3 months that's pretty great.
I think that my chances are a bit lower than most people here since I don't have extra family members to enter to increase my odds. JUST me!

:sunny:

One tip that I have learned- increase the font when entering sweeps- helps the eye strain immensely!!

:sunny: I don't know where you got the idea that most of us enter all our family. I only enter myself or in the case of motorcycles my hubby enters. You can still get lots of wins!

Actually drb26, very few people enter for anyone but themselves and win quite frequently!!! :headbang:

For those that do enter for others? I do believe it's mostly moms entering for their kids, or for family members that can't enter for themselves for whatever reason. :sunny:

Most sponsors don't care as long as sweepers enter true info - ie: one email per person. :sunny:

It's those that enter numerous times under their info with numerous emails that cause all the problems for the sponsors :nono:

Any prize(s) I win I usually give to my guys, or to friends, and sometimes to members of SA, and any prizes they win (my guys  ) whether they entered or I entered for them, are theirs to do with as they wish!!! :headbang:

In fact, my son got the XBOX 360 I won from Circuit City because his was starting to act up (freezing :nono: ) and his friends died completely, so my son gave him his old one!!!

Glad to have you onboard drb26 - now get to entering to make up for those lost 3 years!!!

Probably took me about 5-6 months. I started out with a handful of $100+ wins quickly, then lots of small stuff, then finally got a BoFlex about 6 months after starting, and they even pronounced my name right on TV....

Good luck and enjoy.

I'm still waiting for my first win of 2008.... :) Been busy so haven't been entering as much, and the end of year stuff hasn't sent out any notifications, to me at least....

mine was @ the end of 2006 I won a 2007 gmc pickup in a local sweep, when you have the opportunity to enter a local sweep you have much better odds of winning a prize, good luck :sunny:

I was sweeping continuously at another site for 1 1/2 years until I finally win a trip. Two days later, I won another trip, so when it rains it pours. Since then I have won several cash and trip prizes over $1,000.

Ironically, the earliest and biggest prizes were won while I was using dial-up. Go figure

I have been sweeping 2 YEARS and have not had a single win over $1000 or a Grand prize :cussing:
I know you didn't want to hear that ~ But, I have won a $500 gc and several $200-$300 value prizes, many many tshirts, posters, and smaller wins. My day is coming so I keep on entering.

Christie- dont mind that answer at all-
I love reading about the grand prizes etc... but not everyone can win

Thanks for the post

Hi Doug and WELCOME!!!

I started in Novemeber a few years back and won $100.00 Visa card right off and was hooked. The instant wins started rolling in and it really didn't take me long to get to the $1000.00 mark. Since I also don't keep a running tab, I would say about 5-6 months. Last year I won over $1000.00 in Jan. alone and then things came to a screeching halt for awhile. You just never know!!

I go through spells where I sweep hard and long and then there are times when I slack off ~ nothing is wrong with either. I stay on the site for hours no matter which phase I'm in because I love the people here! My big win is coming, it just isn't here yet!! You will get your also ~ just think, somewhere out there is a trip, a car, or a TV with your name on it!!! You just have to find it!!! Good luck and let us know when you hit the big one!!! May it be sooner rather than later!!!

Tammy

Thanks Tammy- great advice.
can't wait to have a big win and share with all the great people here

The smartest thing I have done was to increase the font on this site so my eye strain wasn't so great. I am fortunate that I am at a computer all day, so I can sweep, but it really tires out the eyes if you don't take a break.
