Just wanted to say welcome to the new SA members that had belonged to that other site and was just curious as to what other members here left the "dark side"!!LOL

Things have been heating up over there. Many members have had it with them and moving on. They've been going banning crazy even for simply questioning their "rules" which I'm sure some of us know have grown and gotten pretty ridiculous over time, questioning the mods, etc.

As usual, their webmaster is missing in action letting the mods have free reign to delete whatever they want and ban whoever they want for whatever reason they feel like.

It's such a breath of fresh air over here!! :smt006

Anyone is welcome to come here and sweep. We do realize that there are other sweepstakes sites out there. Some people visit several sites, and others are loyal to one. We hope that our members and visitors are comfortable here at SA.

We do have some conduct rules, but they can be summed up pretty simply: be respectful of others. We like discussions, suggestions, and jokes, but we're not into brawls. Our site is a friendly place for people who like to sweep, and win!

You may have noticed that if you type in the three letter abbreviation for another sweep site, it comes up as OLS. We don't want to make anyone uncomfortable by fostering a combative attitude towards our fellow sweepers. We don't mind if you visit our site and theirs; we aren't going to bash you for it. But we think you'll be happier here. :smt002

It really is sad when you have a site like that where members will bash each other for those very things such as using other sweepstakes sites, using your own way of entering instead of theirs, getting bashed for having different views, getting treated as a lower-class member because you don't pay for the extended membership, bringing their aggressions and insecurities into the forums and harrassing and lying to others, etc.

No site is perfect, but I'm sure that those who have come here and signed up will see that it doesn't have to be that way and people can act more civil towards each other. :smt002

Okay, I have been a member of Sweepstakes Advantage for nearly a year now, and I don't understand the allusions to "that other sweepstakes site." I love SA, really I do, but what is the name of "that other sweepstakes site." Remember, not everyone can read "between the lines" - or, at least I can't. I never could - that's a flaw of mine. :smt002

Those of us who had been members there or are still members there know which site is being referred to. However, it's probably not in anyone's best interest to actually name the site especially when it's known for their mods to come over here to snoop around, and it could just lead to conflict.

If a mod or someone else feels comfortable and safe in naming that site, it's their call. I prefer not to.

It's hard making the decision to leave a site you are comfortable with. For me, the decision was made for me and I am very happy about that. What was meant as a punishment turned into a huge reward. I guess I won that war! :smt003

Other sites forums almost breed hostility. We only encourage Chocolate Sweepstakes & Giveaways abuse. :smt005 Seriously, the people here are truly kind and it is very refreshing.

Things are definitely more quiet here, but, that makes it strangely more pleasant. Besides, you can always peek back in there for the drama. Trust me, when you are detached from it, it becomes funny in a pathetic sort of way! :smt009

I am sorry people are having to suffer the indignity that many of us have had to endure. But, I do know, in the long run, they are better off. They need to keep an open mind and know they are more than welcome here.

I visited that other site once, and couldn't see any positive reason for ever going back there. I prefer to stay away from negative energy, it makes life so much better.

WolfieIt's hard making the decision to leave a site you are comfortable with. For me said:
You said it very well. I know many people there and email with some of them. I have gotten some members to come here and register, because the drama is far too great for them there. Even the notes on the sweepstakes have been known to get out of hand.

People do get accustomed to a particular site and find it hard to leave despite the hostility. I hope that more will find their way here. Many are now relunctant to post in the forums. The joke is is that the webmaster has created these rules whereas he and the mods can do as they please, but members are restricted and censored.

Of course, no site is perfect; and there will always be remarks of criticism or such about a site or another member, but it's too trivial to go around deleting them just because they can't deal with the comments. Who knows, too, criticism can be constructive and something to learn from; and, in this case, I think their webmaster should pay attention to what the members are saying.

It's sad to see a forum reduced to topics of nonsense, grossness, childishness, etc., because the members are too afraid to say any of intelligence anymore, hold a civil debate, or make any negative remark in the slightest way for fear of "banishment".

Well, it probably would be a blessing in disguise. Then they may find their way here and find that this type of drama doesn't go on at other sites. I know many, many members there are unhappy and just need a little encouragement to make the move; and I will continue to help those who want to find their way here. Forums can be addictive, but they don't have to be stressful. :smt003

The one thing that stands out to me about SA is its customer service. Our Admins are always here, or an e-mail away. They take care of all problems!

We have a thread about user suggestions. You would be amazed at how seriously that is taken. The changes that have been implemented are amazing. Many of the changes have come from member suggestions in that thread.

Ken is a programmer. He knows what he is doing. He doesn't have to wait for a software company to put out new functions to add them to his site. He writes the improvements himself. This is one of the biggest differences. He is a professional at what he does and it shows.

HI,

I'm from that "other" site, and still have a membership. I have become so disgusted by it, that I decided to look for an alternative and was told about this site. It is hard to leave what you are use to, but I decided to go ahead and start getting familiar with the site so that when my "other" membership expires, I will be use to this site. This looks like a great site with some fun people, and I look forward to it.

That doesn't surprise me. Amidst all the controversy developing on the internet, SA has been coming up as a wonderful website to be a member of. So, I knew it was a matter of time before the attacks would begin. I feel real sorry for those people that have been receiving threatening emails. The panick comes across loud and clear in them too.

I'm so happy for a site like this where members truly can get along with each other without :smt091 the drama, and hope it fares well with the attacks that I'm sure to come.
