Anyone win a timeshare before?

Received an email from a travel company on FB that I won a timeshare for Diamonds Resorts. Odd thing is 1) I never liked their company page so I'm baffled which page I entered thru and 2) there's no mention of a contest in any of their posts. So it's a possibility this company was outsourced to coordinate the prize arrangements.
Main question is what are the tax implications for a timeshare?
Thanks,

If the "win" is legitimate, due your research carefully before you accept it. Time shares are almost impossible to sell, and frequently come with obligations for shared management, maintenance and cleaning expenses. Usually the time share companies refuse to release you from the obligation to pay these expenses.

I'd google "time share complaints" & "time share problems" as a start in my reseach.

You might also google "diamond resorts timeshare sweepstakes" and "diamond resorts timeshare sweepstakes scam" Both ot those resulted in some interesting reading.

Good luck!

I got the same phone call this morning too! It's from Worldwide Vacation Properties. I had to do an esign to hold me as a winner for 10 days so I can research it. I supposedly won 3500 points which would mean I would have to pay close to $1000 a year for this. That's scary!

We are time share holders, and with ours we pay annual dues every month, it is nice cause we get better stays but it's expensive! Our is with rci/disney vacation club!
