here's a question for you-do you feel right entering contests or accepting prizes if you don't support the sponsor?for instance i detest cigarettes and cigarette smokers,but had no problem entering the marbolo contests last summer. the reason i'm asking is because there is a local "mega -church" in my area that is having a huge easter weekend give-away(4.5 million dollars worth of prizes!!) all you have to do is show up for church service and they will draw names at every service.the prizes include 15 different cars,flat screen t.v.s,laptops,ipods,bikes,fender gutairs,furniture and so much more.they were all donated by wealthy parishoners of the church.the cars are 2 bmws,a jaguar,an audi,a spyder,2 eclipses a jeep and i can't remember the rest.i am a die-hard atheist,but also a die-hard sweeper,so i don't know what is right.my husband said it is hipocritical of me to go to curch services just to try and win a car,but i know i'll just be kicking myself if i am this close to such a great free contest and don't even attempt to enter. they've been promoting it locally all week,and they keep saying that they hope and wish that the people that walk off with the top prizes are the ones that never go to church and showed up for all the wrong reasons---well that's me so i want that new bmw!!!

Well I take it that the church meant that this type of event will bring in non-believers and hopefully will change them into believing in what the Bible teaches... I don't think they really meant for people being greedy and not wanting to give the Bible a chance at their views to come on in and get their chance at these extravagant prizes... But who knows the thinking process behind this... Just MHO...

candywillis - as long as you are legally entering...

FYI - who are smokers 21 years of age or older at time of entry are eligible - you have to swear you are a smoker to get a PID to even enter their sweeps.

:wave: Morality and ethics are not exclusive to religion. One can be atheist and still be a moral person. There are basic tenants of what is right and what is wrong...that civilized people usually adhere to. I am not religious either, but I do have certain ethical and moral standards which I follow.
