brand new products///damaged?

Today we bought a dvd at Sams. Its a brand new dvd. I've been playing it. Half way through it, it starts skipping, and acting all crazy. There are no scratches on it. So I don't know what to do. Ughh. These dvds really drive me nuts. They seem to always have something wrong with them. I didn't have this much trouble with VHS.

So what should I do. Bring it back to the store? Or just fast forward that part?
 
oh and I forgot to say. Its a complete season dvd. So its got like 25 episodes or whatever. 3 of the episodes skip. But then it goes back to working ok.
 
I have a similar problem with a DVD set I purchased from Walmart. I bought it out of the $5 bin and they don't want to take it back. The DVD I purchased is an Ernest set and I LOVE Ernest, I haven't watched him in years. Well, I guess if you look closely the dvd seems to be coming apart. I'm glad it's just one of the two because, the other one has all of his commercials, this one has 2 of the movies. I am still bummed though, I was excited to find it in the sale bin.

I would call them and ask them to replace the movie.

I've had this happen one other time. I had bought roswell season 1 dvds. They were brand new. But in parts would skip or freeze. Well I took them back and they didn't have any more copies of it. So I ended up getting something else.
I don't want to have to take it back. I dont have a sams card (my mom does). She bought these for me. And I don't want to have to tell her they aren't working right. I guess I will just forget about it. theres like 628 mins on theses 3 dvds. So I guess out of all that only 50 mins inst working. Thats not that bad.

What makes the dvd not work? Is there a scratch or something I cant see? Or is it something wrong from the company that made the disk? I did play it on my dvd player, and then on my computer. Both worked the same. So its not the player.
 
most don't accept open DVDs becuase folks have been known to switch out DVDs or even not have a DVD in the package.

One thing you can do is contact the company, Fox, etc, who originally made the DVD. Some will replace them.

Its often a manufacturing error, or the disc may have been stored somewhere too hot. With the Ernest DVD that is coming apart, I've fixed old videogame discs with this problem by heating them with a blowdrier, then putting the still warm disc under a big stack of books (make sure its absolutely flat!). This can make it stick back together and play OK. Sometimes I have to heat it with the blowdrier several times to get it to "take". Don't burn yourself with the hot disc while doing this.
 
Most stores will let you EXCHANGE after opening the DVD, but only for the same product. They just won't let you return it, but if you tell them it's acting up they will let you just exchange it for the same exact thing.
 
We purchase and win alot of dvd's, and I've only had one bad dvd through all the years; and the store did take it back with no problems. Have you considered that the problem may lie with your dvd player?

No this player is almost new, we bought it two months ago. plus I used the dvd on the computer too.

Its wierd, almost all the episodes work perfectly except those three.
