Cartoons we loved when we were kids

I just posted on the movie thread about recently watching the Transformers movie and it got me thinking about all of the cartoons I just couldn't miss when I was a kid.

For me it was mostly cartoons geared toward the boys:

GI Joe ~ remember their little PSA's at the end of every episode..."and knowing is half the battle - G. I. JOE!"
He-Man ~ loved castle Greyskull
Thundercats ~ I wanted to grow up to be Cheetara (ok, I guess I was a little weird even then :laughing:)
and, though it shames me to admit it, the Smurfs

How about you guys? Any shows you just couldn't wait to watch on Saturday morning?
 
:sunny: When I was a kid our Saturday mornings included Mighty Mouse, My Friend Flicka, Sky King and Roy Rogers.
 
I always love Looney Tunes most. Old Daffy Duck would have me rolling. Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner never failed to mesmerize me too! Some of my other faves were:

Before cartoons became politically-correct, before writers and cartoonists had to make sure no one could possibly be offended by anything in it, and before the "feel good" era of the "Care Bears" mush!

There were just some cartoons I never got into like "Superman" and "Batman". This was also an era where just about any prime time show became a cartoon also.

Around the mid '70's and on, Saturday morning cartoons starting disappearing and being replaced with some really lame show like "Isis", "The Krofft Super Show", etc.

...and that pretty much was the end of a childhood ritual.
 
Does anyone remember "The Mighty Hercules"? It was usually shown in the afternoon when we go home from school. Herc's sidekick was an annoying fawn named Newton who repeated everything twice.

rainbow brite....and i could swear there was a strawberry shortcake cartoon, and they even made cereal :scratch:
 
I didnt watch a lot of cartoons as a kid... I did watch the old black and white superman(I know not a cartoon but I have limited answers so im going with it) :booty" and speed racer. I did like tom and jerry and the skunk, what was his name..peppy le pue or something. :laughing:
