Cash for Trips or changing a prize

For those that have been lucky enough to win big trips, were you ever able to request cash or a different trip instead of stated prize? If so, how did it go? What happened?

I won a vegas trip once, something happened and I wasn't able to go, I was offered $1,000 check.

I average about 3 trip wins a year. I have never asked a sponsor to change my trip or to give me cash instead.
