court wont review obama's eligibility to serve

nooooo. I said it didnt have anything to do with him. The governor was trying to sell Obama's senate seat to the highest bidder..

OK cause I have heard Chicago politics was the worst. I will have to keep an eye on this story just to see what develops.

^^Amen to that too!

And here in Chicago we all woke up to images of our lovely Illinois Governor being arrested this morning. Not a shocker, just completely and utterly disappointing.

I just saw that. I am sorry your state is going through this, people are depressed enough about the way things are going without having their public officals getting busted.

Being Biracial is going to affect every aspect of Obama's life, forever. I'm half Jewish-on my Dad's side which makes me not a "real" Jew. Do I have problems with the State of Israel and some of their policies...yup. Do I cringe whenever somebody tells a Jew joke? Do I wonder how my name affects their perception of me? Always. Did I want to get a nose job when I was teen-you bet! I'm sure Obama had all sorts of conflicts growing up Biracial during the 70's. Its how he dealt with the conflicts that determines what sort of leader he will be.
Every biracial or ethnically mixed person goes through a phase where they have difficulty reconciling their different heritages. Sometimes we do hate part of ourselves. Its all in growing up and learning about how the world around you views you, when you don't fit in a neat little box. To quote Obama...

“Even love was tarnished by the desire to find in the other some element that was missing in ourselves. Whether we sought out our demons or salvation, the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart.”

I have some small idea how he feels. There is a very good book on this subject called Children of Interracial Marriages: Expectations and Realities by Vladimir Piskacek and Marlene Golulb, we read it in Soc class years ago and I got a lot out of it.

This thread has turned laughable. first, obama doesnt hate whites.. I guess he hates his mother, grandmother and part of himself.. I think brining up the black and white issue is just... oh, never mind whats the point.

thanks for sharing. Im sorry you have experienced things like that.. And I agree he probably has had issues with being bi racial but to say he hates whites is laughable IMO.. He may struggle with being different. he may struggle with trying to find a balance and see both sides of who he is. thats a lot different than saying oh, well he hates white people IMO..

Have you seen Vin Diesel's Multi-Facial? That is on topic here too. Its about Vin's experiences with being a multi ethnic actor. Its such a complex subject!

yeah.. rush Limbaugh that's a reliable unbiased source for sure.. and completely taken out of context. The day I take anything that Limbaugh says as fact I will eat my own tongue before hanging myself.

http://www.ericdigests.org/1999-3/identity.htm

"These societal pressures affect the natural internal process of developing an identity that all children undergo. Recently acknowledged by experts as unique for multiracial youth, the process has been described by one researcher (Poston, 1990) as a meshing of "personal identity" (including non-racial constructs such as self-esteem and interpersonal competence) with "reference group orientation" (constructs such as racial esteem and racial ideology). Complicating this integration for multiracial youth is the need to work though internal conflicts and guilt about having to develop an identity that may not incorporate all aspects of their heritage and to resist internalizing society's negative attitudes about multiracialism and minority status. Ultimately, according to the model, in the last stage, successful identity formation, or a satisfying feeling of wholeness, requires that multiracial youth appreciate and integrate all components of their heritage into their lives (Poston, 1990)."

Found a great quote!

And since I found this brilliant quote let me add here that to deny that Obama could come to be very angry about white privilege is sort of like denying the existence of prejudice. I have never known a Black American who did not dislike some white people, or at least their attitudes at some point, since this is a normal reaction to, as Obama so aptly puts it, being "spit on"

Obama said:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/02/AR2007010201359_pf.html
"We were always playing on the white man's court . . . by the white man's rules," he writes. "If the principal, or the coach, or a teacher . . . wanted to spit in your face, he could, because he had the power and you didn't. . . . The only thing you could choose was withdrawal into a smaller and smaller coil of rage.

"And the final irony: should you refuse this defeat and lash out at your captors . . . they would have a name for that too. Paranoid. Militant."

Doesn't that remind you of Langston Hughes? :sunny:

"What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?"

That, of course, does not mean he hates all white people and wants to hustle us (you?) off to the camps. It just means he has normal reactions to a pervasive negative stimulus.

I'll shut up now :hiding:

(Oh great, now I have Splatter #3 "Boots of the Oppressor" going through my head...get it....out!)

I like Vin. His best movie was pitch black.

Thanks red for that information. I do believe Obama does not like whites. He sat in that hate filled church for 20 years and I am sure he did listen to sermons. Does this mean it will influence his ability to be POTUS? I hope not.

I can't wait to see what he will be able to do as President. He promised hope and change. Let's hope he can change things.

Oh and I believe Rush was one of Barbra Walters most fascinating 10 this year and I think Obama was #1 lol.

Maybe it's just me but I can't help but think this Governor thing is somehow connected to Obama. It's strange to me that even though Obama and Govenor (I can't say his name) worked together on each of their campaigns that O didn't know anything. Now this is just me but I am going to pay attention to this case.

Just another one of those relationships umm acquaintances of Obama's

yeah your right.. everyone that does anything bad will some how be connected to obama.. I will give you a head start on your reading..

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081210/ap_on_go_pr_wh/illinois_governor_analysis

In Chicago, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said prosecutors were making no allegations that Obama was aware of any scheming. And Blagojevich himself, in taped conversations cited by prosecutors, suggested that Obama wouldn't be helpful to him. Even if the governor was to appoint a candidate favored by the Obama team, Blagojevich said, "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation."

The two Illinois politicians have never been especially close and have largely operated in different Democratic Party camps in the state. Blagojevich's disdain for Obama was clear in court documents; he is quoted as calling the president-elect a vulgar term in one phone conversation recorded by the FBI.

but im sure Blagojevich's own words wont satisfy some people... :nono:

I'm just curious as to why the Obama team didn't turn him in to the FBI. You have to wonder you know.

I'm glad you agree with me though. Thanks for that head start but there's a whole lot going on here besides what yahoo will tell you. I have heard more from those tapes than just what yahoo has. I do think his own words may actually satisfy some of my curiosity.

Why does Obama keep distancing himself from all his so called non-acquaintances?

why would the obama team turn him in? they didnt know anything.. did you even read the article.. and I dont agree with you.. I tend to look at facts..and make up my own mind.. I dont go with what people with their own agenda, who like to spit and be all outraged over every little thing do. it doesnt matter anyway. nothing obama does will ever be good enough for you. you will pick at every thing he does and everything he doesnt do. you will make connections where there arent any.

You can have all your obama threads to yourself from now on. I refuse to be drawn in anymore by some of the hate I have read in these threads. life is to short for that kind of nonsense.

Do you honestly think Obama is squeaky clean? And those are some harsh words for someone who just happens to have a different opinion than you. Actually you started this thread and I'm just replying. I don't hate the guy I'm just posting the news and giving my opinion.

It's just interesting that he has to distance himself from all his fellow statesmen. This all is just too unreal to believe IMO.

I don't get the arguing back and forth anyway.

The agenda/plan for this country and what direction it will be taken was planned out almost 100 years.

It doesn't matter who is president, Obama, McCain, or some homeless guy, they ALL are participants in the "plan".

This country has continued down the same path even during my lifetime, whether a so-called liberal or a so-called conservative gets elected, and nothing has changed and nothing has differed from president to president.

Corporate American runs this country, not the people.

People really need to shut off their televisions and start thinking for themselves again instead of eating up all the slime that pours out of their televisions.

Until people stop all this mindless arguing and start focusing on what is really going on in this country and do something about it before it's too late, and stop voting for the two schmucks that corporate America sticks in there, things will just continue to get worse for the people in this country.

By the time we are completely stripped of our rights and freedoms, it will be too late.

That is true but honestly it doesn't appear to me that anything will change accept only when God chooses to do so. Of course that is my opinion.

How do you suggest we take steps to change America? I doubt that a third party would ever get elected into office.

I agree everything is already planned out.

How do you suggest we take steps to change America? I doubt that a third party would ever get elected into office.

That's a belief that the American people have been conditioned to believe among many other things.

Stop voting for the two parties, simple as that. The more people who start doing this, the more of a chance we have to take this country back.

Remember WWJD? When you go to vote for anyone, think of that first, not of who does or doesn't have a chance.

I don't believe for a minute God would want us to vote for people like this, and that is what guides me in making my decision, not popular opinion.

Even if the people I vote for never get elected, I know I did the right thing; and that's what counts

Well we have 4 years to see what happens.

Well we have 4 years to see what happens.

I don't have to wait four years to see what happens, I know what's going to happen--same old, same old, just like it has been until we are completely stripped of our rights and freedoms and become mindless worker bees for the good of America which is corporate America.

Voting for the lesser of two evils? They are the same evil, and I don't vote for evil. :headbang:
