Exercise for our health support thread

Will be going to the gym later today for my latin dance class.
No hike today - early dinner at Anthony's on the harbor and the a walk along the beach by the Hotel Del Coronado.
(Maybe a wine tasting after - :sunny:)

Oh wow all of that sounds so romantic. You are definitely an inspiration to me to keep up the workouts. Thanks for posting.

20 minutes performance workout.

General Information
Mounting Incidents Of Sunburn

When skiing or hiking in the mountains, be especially careful not to get a sunburn. Even though it may feel cool, the sun's intensity may be as much as 20% greater than if you were laying on a sunny beach.

luckily I don't have to worry much about sunburns
left the house early today - to workout before
going to take care of my dad

30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minute walk/run

Did an hour on the gym floor (free weights, cardio) then an hour long BODY JAM class. What fun, a bunch of middle aged women getting their freak on! And we have the cutest little instructor, she is just a doll. And let me tell you, the girl can dance. She makes those guys in the MTV videos look like beginners. She can put steps together count by count and then by the end of the class you are doing an entire 32,64,96, count routine.

sounds awesome
i loved my Latin dance instructor
but she got deported!

I sure hope they get a new one.

Deported? Wow, that's pretty final. I bet she was good though.
I was thinking the same thing.

Treadmill again. I wish I could get to the gym but I don't drive.

Mending Moods
Mind-Bending

The mind needs exercise, just like the rest of the body. Research shows that leading active, stimulating lives helps older adults keep their brains fit and healthy. Try to learn something new or do something different each day.

Yup - I was bummed - she was an awesome instructor!

I will not be exercising my body today - stuck at home without a car.
Guess I will exercise my mind!

No work out today I will make it up this weekend.

Cancer Information & Prevention
Examine Your Breasts, Save Your Life

When detected and treated early, breast cancer is curable. And most breast lumps are discovered by women themselves, not by a doctor or mammography (low dosage x-rays of the breast). So do a breast self-exam monthly.

Worked out at home every time. I have a treadmill and eliptical. I also use a weight bench. I want a bow flex.

Weather Or Not

If dreary winter weather is getting you down, try to get plenty of fresh air, especially in the early morning. Keep the lights on during an overcast day and wear bright-colored clothing. Also, learn to enjoy outdoor winter activities, such as skiing or skating.

20 min. today.

Growing Healthy

Ask any gardener and they will tell you that gardening is an excellent way to relieve stress and depression. Gardening programs are also being used with the mentally impaired, physically handicapped, aged, and mentally ill as a form of therapy. Gardening enables people to build confidence, develop a sense of being needed, and a purpose in life, all of which promote good health.

No exercise again today (none for the last 2 days).

Still trying to fight off that awful cold!

I love gardening - I am going to have to make time for it again.

I also love gardening especially when springtime comes around. I was fighting a sinus infection the last couple days and I used echinacea. I try and stay away from any meds. This really did the trick for me. But only use herbs after doing research into them.

I have to start working out and eating better. When I bought my Wedding Dress, I bought it a size too small (on purpose).... Tonight I'm going to this class at the gym:

Step: Cardiovascular workout that incorporates the use of an adjustable height bench. Choreography will vary and some classes will incorporate 2 or 4 benches.

Sounds interesting. Let me know what you thought of the class. I know you will get into that dress and you will be a beautiful bride.

I love my step class.

Walked to the barn, in the snow, with two canes to feed the cat and kittens some idiot dumped out. They ran out in the snow and hopped around on their little kitten feet going "eeek, eeek what is this cold stuff?" By the end of the walk my feet (and cane tips) were large balls of frozen mud. So that should count as walking and weight training

 your workouts are so much more entertaining than mine.

I am going to look into a workout routine to change things up a little.

Your Mind Affects Your Body

A good deal of research is now looking at the relationship between one's emotional state and the likelihood of becoming physically ill. A study conducted at John Hopkins University School of Medicine found that healthy adults possess the following characteristics: Positive relationships with their parents during childhood, strong self-esteem, optimism, minimal depression, and an ability to cope with stress
