First big win-questions

Hi all!!
I was just notified about a trip win to NYC (will post specifics after everything is confirmed) I was sooooo excited to get that call!! That being said, I told hubbs (who has no desire really to go to NYC) and he said was being "realistic." So here is my question. He wants to know specifics (like what hotel, what airport we fly out of ect.) before he commits. I told him we might not know until after we sign the affidavit. Is that usually the case? I don't want him to decline the trip because he is afraid of being put in a "dump" but I dont see how they would give us info until after we sign. What is the usual order of events for these things? Has anyone ever had a bad sweeps win experience? I am beyond excited but dear husband is less than... :cry:n Talk about a rollercoster of emotions!!

I have won three trips and with each one I was told the hotel up front, before we signed. Good luck. I hope you can go. It sounds like fun!
 
I won an all expense paid trip for two to California last year. I had to sign an affidavit and send it back. After that, I got a full Itinerary sent to my email. Go ahead and sign it in order to get full details. You can decline it after you read it.
 
Thank you guys for the quick response. I guess that was more of my question. If we need to (decide to) decline after we send the affidavit back- what happens then? I would stay in a cardboard box lol, but I understand the questions from hubbs I guess :crazytongue:
 
I just won the Scott's sweepstakes for the All Star Game and World Series. I signed the affy and was told a travel agent would get back to me. She was the one that told me what hotel and airline. She was wonderful! Stayed at the Westin and flew 1st class home! Sign it and send it in! Have a wonderful time!
 
Hurry and sign the papers! I recently won a trip to the CMT awards from Haverty's. It was amazing! Everything was first class! When I was called I was told just what had been in the rules. Then I got the whole itinerary and and all the info from CMT. Go..Go... Go...

I agree - sign the affidavit; then if hubby wants to stay home bring someone else!
 
I have won many trips, Beverly Hills, Hollywood (twice) Italy, Virginia, Las Vegas, Scottsdale Az each time we stayed at 4 to 5 star hotels.

I dont think the sponsor would put you in a dump. It would be a public relations diasaster.
 
How exciting!!! Very happy for you! I hope you go and hubby too. From what I've also heard when you win trips the sponsor goes first class as far as hotel, rental cars, dining etc.... I've never won a trip and hope too one day!! It's on my too win list (lol!). Congratulations & have a wonderful time :thewave:
 
There is a forum on this website where people talk about their trip wins. I can't remember anyone telling of a bad experience. I won a trip to Aspen from ESPN and they went out of their way to make sure everything was amazing. I think a win like that is the whole reason we are entering these sweeps... don't pass it up!
 
Ok, I just reread my post, and made my hubbs sound like a grump lol! That is not the case, he is just cautious- and doesn't get nearly as excited as I do. That being said, I read him all your posts and he now seems to be on board. I am officially back to being excited. Woo hoo. About 3 weeks ago I had my first "official" win. 3 months subscription to our local paper. I was thrilled about that, so this makes me over the moon! Thank you all!
 
:cheers: Congratulations on a great trip win! In all the years I have been reading about wins and having gone on several myself, I don't recall anyone ever having to stay in a dump. Sounds like he is just looking for an excuse not to go. It's a perfect time to take a close friend or relative. I take lots of vacations without my husband and it makes for a better trip going with someone who is excited about going. Have a great time!
