:sunny: I am happy to hear that you don't rely on studies that were done 75 years ago. I don't either. I also hope that you continue to enjoy good health and never have to be concerned about your calorie intake or cholesterol. Before I hit 50 I wasn't concerned either.

I feel the same way :) I turn 50 this November and I have made changes in the way I eat and in the way I take care of my body. I work out 5 days a week and you know what I have never looked better or felt better.

Way to go 50 + crowd. T he new 30

Actually, I take dietary info like this with a grain of salt (sorry for the pun). If you were to make your own chicken sandwich, you would probably have as many calories, depending on the breading used and the oil it's fried in. The sodium can be reduced, however...that's far too much.
 
Men or women, it looks terrible; but can you imagine as a woman having pecs instead of breasts!


I for one have a particular respect for body builders. It takes discipline and dedication. Those women with pecs instead of breasts still look WAY better than I do in a 2-piece...and I have breasts. Big ones. They have beautiful muscle tone as well.

Just an FYI, but most body builders of today no longer eat like that. They very seldom eat the whole egg but just the egg white. Bacon is almost obsolete. Their diets are much healthier than ours(ours as in people in general). They just eat more of it(chicken, lean meat, fish, fruits, veggies, proteins, etc.) And I've met Lou and he know longer eats like that. Hubby and Lou are friends :)


As far as the chicken sandwiches, I just tried one for the first time this morning. And guess what? It tasted like pickles. Go figure.
 
I don't think the men look terrible ~ just the women...I guess I am prejudice!! I dated a body builder right out of high school and he was hot, but I still think the women don't look good. I think women need some curves not all muscle. Just my opinion though!
 
I was never concerned with calories and cholesterol. Everyone reacts differently to different things, and too much of a good thing and not enough of a bad thing can have detrimental health effects too on some people.

Did you know there was a doctor in the '30's that was all into the study of nutrition and health that claimed if you ate nothing but vegetables you would have a long life. Well, he ate nothing but vegetables and died of hardening of the arteries at the age of 45! :crazytongue:

There have been so many changes in what's good for you and what's bad for you through the years, I don't even listen to it anymore. They can never seem to fully figure it out! :popcorn:

So true LIDARKSIDE!!! The only thing I've stuck with is to lose weight, you HAVE to eat - otherwise, your body freaks out and goes into starvation mode & hoards every calorie/fat gram!!! :nono: :cry:

5 meals a day (NOT huge ones) keep the fires stoked, and the engine running at peak performance. :headbang:

WHAT to eat & how much is very personal - which is why diets do NOT work!!! :nono:

If I could force myself to eat more often (lost my appetite a few years back & put on way to much!!!) then maybe I could shed!!! :whistle:
