This is SO up my alley!! I grew up with a Christian Grandmother that lived in a haunted house! She wouldn't lie about it to save her life ~ the house was in Earlington, Kentucky and is gone now, but I would love to find the place and take pictures there.
One of the first stories that I remember is of her Uncle. There were four girl in the family at that time and they all stayed in the one bedroom, of course, and my Grandmother and her sister Marge were in one bed, and the other two girls had a bed. This was in the time that they used to lay their dead out in the living room. Anyhow, my Grandmother's Uncle John had passed away and was in the living room. All the girls went to bed that night and were awakened by someone at the door, it was the dead Uncle in the door. When all four of them started to scream he vanished. Their Dad didn't believe them! Needless to say that none of the four girls got any sleep until Uncle John was buried.
Another story of her's was about the stuff that was outside of the house. The kitchen was in the back of the house along with the backdoor that led to the well. At night, you could see a light going all around the well in the backyard. If anyone went out the light would go out.
There was also something that would scrap down the kitchen window at night when they were eating. Grandmama's Dad thought that it was some playing a trick on them so he decided to shoot at it. Yes, shoot! The noise came right on time that night and he shot through the window. Nothing was there, and that surprised him more than anything I think. The noise did stop after that though!
One other that I can remember right now was a ghost dog! The dog would follow my Great Grandfather down the road and when he stopped to unlock the gate, he would jump over the gate and dissappear. It didn't happen every night, but a lot of his friends did witness this one ~ I wish they would have had camcorders back then!!

I have had a couple of things happen in my house that I live in now ~ nothing major just little things. One is that my house will start smelling of fresh baked muffins ~ just out of the blue! I LOVE that one! The other thing is the sound of the back door slamming even when it is closed.
The last thing was right before my Momma went in to have her surgery and died. Caitlyn had been really sick and she would come in and get in my face and say "Momma!" and scare me to death. I told her that if she needed me during the night to come and shake me by the arm and say "Momma" quietly. A couple of nights later during the night I felt something shake my arm. Just thinking that it was Caitlyn, I turned over and saw the most beautiful opalesence shape ~ it was sorta the shape of a person, but it just shimmered ~ I couldn't see any features at all. I wasn't scared in the running away type scared, but I was scared in the just waking up type scared. It was probably in my room for all of 45 seconds or so before it started to like fade away and get smaller at the same time. I took it as a sign from God that everything was going to be alright, and then was devasted when my Momma passed away a little over a week later. I asked my Pastor what he thought. He said that he did believe it was from God because of the beauty of it, and he asked me if I thought Momma was really okay. I told him that of course I did and he just smiled. The point was well taken, and on days that I have a bad day, I remember the sign that I believe God sent me that night!!
I haven't told many this last story because it is very personal to me, but thought I would share it with you guys!!
