Grand prize trip win...had to decline

Received a phone call tonite that I had won the Delilah’s Chicago Flyaway Sweepstakes which was a trip to NYC to see and meet Chicago. The trip is from Nov 27th-29th. Due to Thanksgiving and a weekend trip already planned and paid for to the Florida Keys at that time I had to decline..it was heartbreaking! I've been complaining and upset that I haven't won anything lately and then this...my depression deepens!

HOPE SOMEONE FROM SWEEPS ADVANTAGE GETS THIS TRIP!

So sorry you had to decline, but perhaps the cycle of wins is beginning for you. I had to decline a trip a few years ago because of a schedule conflict, I know how bad it feels...I wish you many more great wins soon!

Thanks for the kind words and lets hope this is the up cycle of wins...good luck to you on your sweeps! I'll be keeong my fingers crossed for both of us!
 
I just had to decline a trip to Greece myself due to a move. It is terrible but I hope you win another that you can take! :)

about a year ago I won a hundred dollar spa bathrobe from redbook magazine. But I never got the prize because it took so long to get the prize about 8 to 12 weeks and we were planning on moving. We moved when it was being delivered. Right after that someone at church gave me a bathrobe (I volunteered at their store and it was donated no one wanted it etc) it was almost the same one just someone wanted to get rid of it. Hope this story makes you feel better when you least expect it you can win another trip just as nice (moral to this story) :wave:

If you enter sweeps for trips and live your life thinking you're going to win every one you would never travel yourself so I plan my trips and if I enter a sweep and win I would have to decline too! Unless of course it was to a place I could never afford like Greece, New Zealand, etc. Then I would lose the money I had paid if I won. LOL Some sweepstakes last for a long time and some don't so you can't plan your trips around when they end.
 
how poopy...i am sorry that happened...some sweeps i HOPE i dont win the grand prize want a 1st or 2nd..haven't had to turn down anything though...hopefully beginning of a streak!! :sunny:
 
That's too bad you had to decline. I had to decline a trip to Jamaica last year. It was from Women's World and was for 5 days in a private villa. But, it could only be taken between a very specific time and it didn't inlcude airfare or the daily fee for the private chef ($200 per day). In all, the win would've cost more out of pocket than what it was worth on paper. And, with an Active Duty military husband, we weren't (and rarely are) in a position to take leave to fit the parameters of the trip. Having said that, I did get to take a great trip to Las Vegas about 4 years ago from the Style Network (they were VERY accomodating with the dates) and a weekend trip to Steamboat Springs, CO from Brown Foreman (Jack Daniels, Shiner Bock Beer). On that one, I put my name in a box at the Class Six (Liquor Store) on base at Ft Carson. They drew my name and it was one of the best trips we've ever taken! It's sad to decline, but keep at it and another trip will eventually make it's way to your doorstep!
