I don't know if I've ever even posted on these boards, I know I have entered some comments into the sweeps, but thought to finally speak up as I am a real person, a newbie even (sweeping for 2-3 months)

My first win, a grand prize win! :headbang: Trip to NYC, fashion show tickets, dinner, makeover and products. Estimated value is $5,200.

The bad part, I think I have to turn it down.... grrr...
Travel is in 2 weeks from today...trying to figure out if it's even worth the hassle with getting time off at work and if I can find someone to go with me.

Congrats on the win. Sorry if you can't use it. Personally, I've yet to win any trips after sweeping for a much longer time.

sometimes wins come at the wrong time or the prize is not what you were hoping for good luck

Did you ask if there is a cash option? They don't always list that in the rules. Hope it works out for you!

DenverGal, Before you turn it down make sure there are no family members you could take...or maybe you can use the trip at a later date... or something.

That's a heck of a prize to reject!

My advice is don't be too hasty!

...and Congrats!

OMG ! Thats a chance in a lifetime..especially the makeover and products! You should go ! and come back and tell us how it went ! :crazytongue:

Always keep an eye on those expiration dates. Alot do expire right before the actual departure date. That being said, we accepted a trip with just three-day's notice (we were alternates).

Go on the trip even if you have to go yourself. You'll still have a ball. There's lots to see and do there, and it's easy to get around. We love going into the city.

Congrats! I hope you do take it! Hassle? We do these trips lugging around two cars seats and a double stroller! :crazytongue:

That's a pretty high ARV - remember you must pay a tax on it. It might not be worth it anyway - (don't feel bad about turning it down)

ARV's are just over-inflated approximations. It'll probably end up with an FMV of less than half of that. The IRS requires that you pay taxes on the true value of the prize (FMV) not the ARV. Our last trip, with an ARV of $5,000, ended up with a value of $1,300+; and that was for New York City.

Ooh, turn it down only if you really can't find a way to go. I live in the Denver area and I'd go with you but I have to housesit. Ask a co-worker or an old friend and find a way to go. I'm pretty sure you won't be sorry.

Tell us about the great time you had when you get back!

My first Grand Prize win I had to turn down also...it was a trip for two to Cali to see Fall Out Boy in concert with airfare and hotel ~ It ended being during the time my husband was having surgery and there was just no way for us to go. I hated to turn it down, but I knew that we couldn't go...my daughter wanted to go so badly!! Fall Out Boy is her favorite band ~ she was heartbroken (her Dad told her, not me!)! That was last June...I haven't won anything like that since...so think long and hard IF you can do it in anyway!!

I hope it works out for you!! Congrats!!

Congratulations on a terrific win! I'm sure you'll come up with the best choice for you...most bosses and co-workers are very understanding when they realize it's a once-in-a-lifetime deal! :sunny:

That is one nice first win! Congratulations! Sorry that you are thinking about not taking it. Maybe things will work out for you.

congrats whichever way you decide! I'd be thrilled to win a trip 100 miles from here at this point :sunny:

congrats on the win and thanks so much for sharing it with us. I really hope ya find some way to take the trip.

Congrats on your win and sorry you can't go. I also won a trip and had to turn it down. It was to the Daytona 500, for this year. It killed me to turn it down and there was nothing instead of the prize or any smaller prize, but I figured that if I had won once, then It would be possible to win another big one . I am still waiting for the next big one but even the small ones make me happy when the "congrats" screen pops up. Good Luck and Happy Sweeping. :sunny:

There have been so many post on a trip like this on how much fun they had! Go for it! Whats holding you back, enjoy it, take an adventure with a friend or family member! I had to turn down on this yr due to deaths in family, if you can go, go for it!!
