Grand Prize win - first win - have to turn down....

denvergirlie,
Before you turn it down be sure to ask if they will offer a cash alternative. If e-prize, D.L. Blair or someone else is running the sweep they will tell you what ever the sponsor told them before the sweep started. If they say there is no cash alternative contact the sponsor themself and you may be able to get a different answer. There is always the chance they will offer you $5,200.00 instead of the trip.

 Congratulations on getting such a great grand prize! You will have a great time, so don't be too hasty in turning it down.

I'm in the Denver area!! :sunny: If it were me, I'd go by myself. But that's just me. If you really don't want to go alone, this may be a good opportunity for you to reconnect with a friend or family member, or offer them one heck of a birthday present! Mother's Day is right around the corner, too.

great prize to win... so what if youre not sure who you can take.... if you work at a good company they shouldn't trip off you wanting a few days off.... TAKE THE PRIZE and take some good pix...

Everyone gave some wonderful suggestions, I hope you don't have to turn it down. Congratulations on your wonderful win.

:thewave:Congrats ! What a great first win ,hope it works out that you get to go ,hope its just the start of LOTS of wins for you.

wow, great win. I went to los angelos to the ama awards on a win a couple of years ago. It was very short notice too. But I did get to go with a friend. We had a great time. I did have to turn down another trip that was a win, I was really bumbed. Go if you possibly can. I'm sure youd have a lot of fun.

If there is a a way to go the the trip you should go. I was fortunate enough my first year of sweeping to be a grand prize winner of a trip to NY ARV 5500.00. I did not fight the amount and did pay taxes on it and it cost me about 1000.00 less in my tax return. For trips to NY and if you are staying in the city for 3 days that itself can cost upwards of 1000-2000. The hotel I stayed at since it was december was over 600.00 per night. That alone was 1800.00 it included tickets to the jingle ball those tickets were about 350.00 a piece so there is another 700.00 as you can see I am at 2500.00 already. Well then there was dinner at a restaurant at Madison Square Garden. It was a set menu but based on the options dinner was probably close to 100.00 per plate, so now I am up to 2700.00. I got to meet Nick Lachey which as strange as it sounds has a value to it. I would say 0.00 but the girls that were crying may disagree. As this contest had a total of 10 grand prize winners. Then there was a digital camera with Swavoski crystals on it there are only 11 in existance all of the winners received one and so did Nick that camera alone was 1000.00. So now at 3700.00 then there was the limo service from the hotel to and from Madison Square garden and the the limo service to and from the airport so now you are up to probably 4200.00 that left the airline tickets and like I said what ever the cost to meet Nick Lachey and have a tour of the Garden took it up to the 5500.00.

If you can find a way to go I think that you should go. Everyone needs a break every now and then. I never enter the contests where there are trips offered. I am a stay at home mom of a 8 year old daughter, a mentally handicapped 4 year old son, and a 3 year old son. With my 4 year old being handicapped babysitters aren't exactly beating down the doors to watch my kids :). Go and enjoy life and live each day to the fullest! :)

 Congratulations!! That is an awesome win, and your first win!!! Wow!!

I really hope you could find a way to go. It sounds like a blast!!

:thewave:

Update:

Looks like I might be able to go after all. My kid sister (20) says she will go with me. She's got to get to me here in Denver from Phoenix, so we are awaiting the acceptance of the affy and then some travel plans.

Part of what has encouraged us to go, is all of your kind messages telling me to go. Thanks all.
