"Any attempt by any entrant to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entrant's entries and that entrant may be disqualified."

---I'm seeing this in alot of the rules for sweeps. Usually I'll enter for my family too, as I'm the only sweeper in house. But, NOT anymore, starting now... I've never won a daily contest with this ''family'' multiple entering method.

And, I am sure not going to waste my time with so many entries. So, I will see if it works. Will cut out probably an hour of sweep time at least for me. I can't say that I'll lose out either? Opinions??? Or, am I the only one who has entered for others (to not get a win)?

I'll probably set up a new email so that's exciting right, lol. I guess I'd think twice doing multiple entries now that I read the rules.

Yeah, most use boilerplate rules verbiage which sounds terrifying.

I saved this because lwaxana explained this well:

Macros
Websites can detect the use of macros by several methods (examination of IP addresses from which submissions come, rapidity of response, etc.) Generally the use of form-fillers such as Roboform is OK. What they are trying to prevent is the use of services that automatically enter a lot of sweeps on your behalf (without your having to visit the sponsor's site). Such services typically charge you a fee and claim to enter hundreds of contests for you. That, obviously, is cheating.

Usually, the marketing department uses ad money for promos to raise awareness of their brand/product so when a sponsor chooses to use their advertising money on a promotion {sweepstakes, contest, etc.} they are looking for new customers and/or trying to keep the ones they have, so they want us to visit their site.

In the past, eprize was contacted and they stated that as long as there was an actual person connected to an email addy/home/phone/etc. it did NOT matter who did the actual entering. IIRC, there was also a house winner who flat out said his wife entered for him - on tv. Yes, he got the win.

My personal opinion? Your time could be put to better use. Get your name in LOTS of pots, rather than lots of names in a few pots. :p

I agree. Every night I feel like I've ran a marathon(seriously) 4 people is a ton of entries. Besides, if there is even a small chance at being DQ'd....I'm not willing to miss out of course. Besides a rule is not optional in my opinion. Sweeping is so much fun! I love this site. If I had to pick one site to have I'd pick this one. :)

When I 1st started out, I entered me. Then I came across under 16 sweeps, so I entered my son. Then there were IW's with awesome prizes, so I added DH. Pretty soon I was entering all 3 of us daily!

That quickly became exhausting, so I set them both up with links/info & they entered themselves. Type A that I am, I picked out the sweeps and read the rules to ensure no phh slipped past.

But they soon lost interest, even though they entered far fewer sweeps and would have awesome winning runs!

Now I sweep & they game & everyone is happy!

I find it time consuming just to enter myself. If i see a contest that i think someone else might be interested in ,or it is only running in their state, then i will email them the link, and it's up to them to decide whether or not they want to enter it.

i enter me and my roomate but he seems to be the one that has all the luck because he seems to win a lot. At least i get the prize if its something i want if not he can have it
