Holiday tipping

I've never heard of tipping your mail carrier, ups, etc. But since we are on this topic.
Delivery drivers like Papa Johns, pizza hut, whoever. Tip them!!! My husband works for Papa Johns, and tipping is how we get grocerys, etc. He gets paid $6.50 an hour plus tips/gas. The worst thing you can do is not give the pizza man a tip. Even if its just $1 or so, it adds up. My husband gets so upset when people don't tip. And its not that he is doing a bad job, its just some of the customers are jerks. LIke this one guy, Gave him money over what it was sopposed to cost. And my husband said, Do you want change, or is this for the tip. The guy laughed and was like, Im not giving tips.

A bit off topic here, but its a serious question......not meant to start an arguement.

I love Papa Johns, and order from them several times a month. I've noticed that since last summer, they added a ''delivery/GAS'' fee. (I think it's $1.00-1.50).

WHO gets that?? Does the delivery guy get that, or does it go in the stores pocket??? If it's a GAS service charge, then I think it should go to the delivery person. It's THEIR gas that's being used.

Just curious.

Never thought of a tip for the mail service... I hate the mailman .. we have a lady and I just love her. I live in a rural area and we have to go to the Post Office to pick up our mail .. I find myself driving back to give the mail that does not belong to me back.. I have learned now to always check but sometimes I am in a hurry..
and I ALWAYS tip the pizza man!!

When I inquired one NIGHT very frustrated & confused why I had a 2.75 charge on my bill from the PAPA JOHNS PIZZA for that so called GAS tax THE STORE MANAGER TOLD ME ON THE TELE IT ALL GOES FROM EVERY SALE INTO A FUND that is divided between the drivers & STORE every whatever. I am still upset over this extra feee as I TIP every driver very WELL. I do NOT order from them anymore , I now order from a local family who appreciate my business & the PIZZA & other food taste better from them. Id rather SUPPORT the small family business and for tipping period if its a waitress I ALWAYS MALE or FEMALE , MAIL & such gets 10.00 gift cards. Always had a BIG smile & a HAPPY mailman that I even think of him.

The mailman and newspaper person should definitely get tipped. I used to deliver newspapers years ago, and we barely made anything. We relied heavily on tipping throughout the year. We used our own cars and put alot of wear and tear on them with all the stops and goes. Not to mention, the gas that went very quick with that type of driving. We got up at insane hours just for that newspaper to be there for the customer when they got up. It was a very frustrating job as we had to constantly go after people for payment, some people never tipped; some people didn't cancel their paper after deciding they didn't really want it after picking it up on a special offer and thus never paying for it at all. It was a very frustrating job to say the least. I had some very wonderful customers who tipped with every weekly payment, and the payment was out when it was supposed to be. Then I had the people who just took the newspaper person for granted by not paying, not tipping, and not getting their payment out in a timely manner. If you ever wonder why you keep getting a new newspaper person, that is why. The newspaper person is also driving in all kinds of weather. With all that we went through, it wasn't worth it; because, in the end, we didn't really make anything.

I havent ordered from them in awhile. was doing it alot until the manager and some employess were caught changing the amounts on checks. no thanks. That fee is just a way for the store to squeeze more money outta ya. It should ALL go to the drivers.

I work a second job at Pizza Hut. They charge a $2.00 delivery charge. We get 75 cents. When I first started 6 years ago we got 50 cents a delivery and there was no delivery charge. Late last year when the gas per gallon went to $2.50 they gave us $1. The DC then was $1.50. In January the raised the charge to $2 and took away 25 cents from us. It is just pure extra profit for them. They said they had to do it because the minimum wage went up. It's a lie because they cut the hours back to cover that.
Worse thing is people think we get that money so they don't tip at all or less then before.

Thanks. I was wondering about that. I kinda figured most of it was going back in the stores pocket.

 The deliver man gets it! Everytime gas goes up, they have to pay the delivery man a little bit more for gas.
I know its a little bit more you have to pay. But think about the delivery person.
I really doubt my husband makes $31,000 as he says he does. He might make it, but he def doesnt gain any off of it. You have to think about, they use thier personal cars. So you got oil changes, gas, whatever else. My husband drives alot delivery pizza. Usually a night would be him driving from jacksonville to Daytona and back.
So yes they get it. Thanks for asking that though. Good question

Ok. I am taking back my answer. I just asked my husband, and he said No the driver does not get that money. Alot of people ask them because they think that is the tip. But no. So I guess it goes to papa johns. Oh well.
