how bad would it to be to accept a trip and skip the athletic event you won tickets to?

Just curious, if I won a trip and tickets to an athletic event or concert, would it be terrible to skip the event? Would anyone notice that the tickets weren't used/seats weren't filled? I haven't been entering these contests, but sometimes the location is interesting. I don't enter contests where I don't want the prize, but it is tempting occasionally.

Just guessing that with AI being used in many sweepstakes now, it would be easy to track. However, guessing how the rules are set up. If someone gets an in-person contact vs just an email or letter mailed, probably a clearing house type contact. That contact might not have any knowledge of the sweepstakes, just what is written. Never hurts to ask ... might get a surprise answer. Just guessing? ... I've wondered about naming an alternate person to win part of a prize and me taking the rest? Hope someone with more experience can give some insights. ... or is it on a case by case basis?
