How long/ how many entries did it take for a win?

Congratulations to all the lucky winners!
How long did it take to get your first win?
Or how many entries to you think you submitted before the win?

Sharekel,

I sent you a pm to let you know that I moved your post here. It would also be okay to post this question in Newbies or Q&A, but not in the Winner's Circle, where you posted. Admin prefers that we only post wins in the Winner's Circle, because it links from the homepage.

I'm sure you will get a range of responses soon!

Here is a link to the Newbie forum, where you will find your question with responses, but also other good information which may be useful:

Here are two recent posts from the Newbie forum where people asked the same question:

I keep hoping! Nothing yet..

The average is 6 months of consistent entering before winning - the ones you see posting they *just* started and won are anomalies.

The only thing I can control is what I do, so I came up with:

Sweeping is a hobby that is all about timing. Especially for those elusive instants! IF you enter at the exact right moment, you will win. If not? Sad to say you won't. But I assure you - it's nothing personal, and those who win a lot don't have any "secrets" - they are just consistent, persistent, and patient.

The sweepers credo? Enter and forget it. Always be happy for those that win - even when they win "your" prize - and be positive you will win.

Reminding myself of the sweepers credo is how I keep my positive attitude, and my sanity.

I really believe that if you go into it thinking you can't win, well, you'll MAKE yourself right so often you'll start believing it!!! I truly do believe you have to have a positive attitude - don't get hung up on what others are doing - just focus on entering, then move on to something else - like posting so we can get to know you!!!

Hang in there - and enter, enter, enter - you'll be posting a win before you know it!!! And remember - every day brings new opportunities to win!!!

Some see sweeping as a zero sum game, where if I win, you lose, but I view it a bit differently - opportunities abound for those willing to commit the time & energy, and while it doesn't give a return equal to our input, if we are consistent, persistent, and patient, the possibilities are endless!!!

 I got my first win after about a month of sweeping. It was an instant win and a small win....Shaw Carpet Cleaner (not sure about the ARV). It took me somewhere between a dozen and two dozen daily tries to get the win. Good luck!

There are so many things to look at when discussing "a win." When reading your reply, Sara, the first thing I think of is that, in my experience, Shaw has not been easy to win from! So, your first win, and a small win, but a hard-to-get win, imho.

So much depends on random timing, chance.

I like to think some luck is involved. And I have thought the same thing of many contests here...I could not get a certain IW and a few people here pop up and say they get a win from that same one that gives me NADA! LOL It really is luck in most cases. Although, I do believe the more you enter a daily contest, the better off you are....even though some win on ONE entry! That would not be ME (at least so far!)

"...I do believe the more you enter a daily contest, the better off you are....even though some win on ONE entry!"

Yup, I agree! :headbang:

It is best to think positively and not get discouraged when other people seem to win so easily (note to self!).

I've beening sweeping for about one month. My first win was about one week after I started. Usually when you win you'll hear but in a few weeks, but if you do blog giveaways you'll know right away. If you want to start winning right now then I suggest you look for some blog giveaways that are ending. They can be a pain to do, but most of them have fantastic odds.

I also do over 400 entries per day with the help of Sweepstake Ninja. The best thing to do is to enter regularly if you want to win. Enter as many times as you can. It also helps to enter during slow times. I won a free pair of Rockport shoes. When I looked on the email that they sent it said that I won on Christmas Day. That day I submitted over 20 entries to them. I usually win something once or twice a week. My best win so far was a $500 GC to Sierra Trading Post.

Good luck
