I love the thrill of mystery that comes with a True Crime Documentary or Podcast. It may be a little macabre, but sometimes a story about a murder investigation is as relaxing as it is thrilling… is that weird? Maybe. But I know there are a lot of people out there who feel just like me! One way to stay up to date on True Crime stories and investigations is to watch Investigation Discovery documentaries. True Crime and Investigation Recommendations
I’m no true crime aficionado but I’d love to share with you all some podcasts I have really enjoyed lately.
The first one is a YouTube channel by Bailey Sarian. She is a massive content creator who hosts the video podcast ‘Murder Mystery & Makeup’. Bailey adds a bit of dark humor and sass to her retellings that just make this podcast so much fun. She is a makeup artist who nonchalantly creates beautiful makeup looks while telling chilling stories. She also started another podcast called ‘Dark History’ which tackles some crime investigations throughout history that are not necessarily murders. It’s super interesting. All the shows are on her YouTube channel and new episodes come out often!
The next one I have to recommend is S-Town. S-Town is an American investigative journalism podcast hosted by Brian Reed and created by the producers of Serial and This American Life. All seven chapters were released in 2017, but the story still holds up as one of the most captivating podcasts I’ve ever listened to. The story follows a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who's allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But when someone else ends up dead, the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man's life. There are only 7 episodes, and you can listen for free on whatever podcast app you use (Apple Podcast, Spotify, Stitcher, etc.,)
