Is the post office stealing my prizes?

Do you guys ever think that to yourself or am I just paranoid?

I think your are just paranoid! Although there is that possibility, we have all heard about the mail carrier that hoarded people mail in their home or garage instead of delivering it, but the chances of prizes being stolen are really slim. Have you ever gotten a notification that a prize has been shipped my US mail and not received it?

:sunny: I'm with judge on this one. Unless you have been notified that a prize has been ship and you didn't receive it.
Now if you're really paranoid drive by his house the night before trash pick up and look thru his garbage for empty boxes addressed to you!

Ok, that is funny... Have to tell ya, I get samples all the time for me and my daughter and she will send me an email of what she gets for the week, and whenever she gets a food or pet treat sample, I never get them.... Who's paranoid now!!!! (Just saying)

Well don't know about stealing, but have had some samples and 1 (I believe) prize thrown away, I have a RR3 address, then a house number, if the company does not have the house number, the post man in our area throws it away. He told me he does this because otherwise no one would use correct address, since small area and know where everyone lives. He did say he trys to only do junk mail, but what some call junk mail I call samples.

If your postman is throwing away mail isn't considered tampering with US mail and he could go to jail for a long time?

Maybe he's like Cliff Claven and delivering to incorrect addresses and those people are keeping it.

Well, I don't know about your mailman , but I have been a FedEx driver for over 10 years and have not heard of any stealing of packages stories, but I have heard the stories of others stealing things off the porch... Unfortunately we are human, so misdeliveries do occur =( the stories I could tell you about how crazy people can get over their packages, would just floor ya... Especially verizon phones!!!

No when I inquired with the post master, if the package is not addressed correctly and is believed to be bulk mailing by the post man it can be thrown away. It is left to the discretion of the post man. I just happen to have a picky post man.. Oh well such is life, I really do not spend much time fretting about it. Never count a prize until it is in my greedy little paws.

I did a stint with UPS during the Christmas rush after I got out of the USN the 1st time {1984} and I give BIG props to delivery guys/gals :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

That's some HARD work!!!

Hope you had fun,,, Christmas is a crazy time!! Especially when you have to deal with the midwest snow!! Ugh!

Well, things have really changed since back then... I think it is probably harder now days... I am 5ft 110 lbs and I amaze myself on what I am capable of doing!! Always remember us FedEx drivers always try our best to please everybody, but, unfortunately with the amount of stops and the time schedule that we have, we can't be here, there or over there, all at the same time ..haha Oh, P.S. the only time I think it is tough is during Nebraska winters,. Ugh..

I noticed that here too - my Fedex guys/gals are usually shorter than me {I was 5' 9" but I shrunk - degenerative disc disease ate over an inch!!! :nono: :crazytongue: } but the UPS guys/gals are taller - weird, I just realized that!!!

Back then, I was just the runner - I sat on that flip down "chair" and was sent out to deliver the big areas, like old folks homes, etc. Ran my bootie off!!!

My driver did all the hard stuff though - and his pay was predicated on how well he beat the time the computer program said it would take, so he treated me really well, since I helped with that

I tried to get taken on, but even with a glowing review, they were all full up, and it was a no go. So I went back into the USN, messed up my back, and now I enter sweeps

 i get free samples sometimes and have found food items opened and gone--just get an empty box--also coupons-mostly tobacco-are opened and torn off. it seems kinda hard to blame this on the sorting machines. don't know who is responsible!

Oh, now that I would report!!! Those tobacco coupons are hidden behind/inside expensive glossy packaging - there is no way they just fell out!!! :nono:

I get $ vouchers every month from a local casino, and the envelope flap always has a tear like someone started to open it. But since it's just a tear, in the same place every time, I know it's the sorter machine :crazytongue:

When you think about all the people who handle our mail and packages, it's a wonder we get most of them. You have some crooked postal workers, delivery people. Mistakes are made, where they deliver mail and packages to the wrong addresses. Packages and mailers are just left on the front porch, to be stolen. Crooks are stealing mail from your mailboxes. Kid's mess with our mail in our neighborhood. Mail and packages are addressed incorrectly, or become damaged from weather and handling. And I've heard of mail carriers being robbed of their mailbags, esp. around the 3rd when checks come out. Odds are some of us aren't going to get our prizes;P

My prize was stolen at the post office for sure. I receved a pink "Sorry we missed you" card, it was for an envelope with 4 gift cards totaling $100, that I had won instantly in one of the sweepstakes about a year ago. I went to the post office to pick it up and it was nowhere to be found. I visited post office 4 times about this and spoke with bunch of people, supervisors and such, but the envelope was never found.

I wonder about this too. A couple weeks ago I got a slip that there was a package for me to pick up. When I went to get it the postlady working the counter said she couldn't find it. She told me to come back the next day and I did, then they said it must have been a mistake. I've also gotten letters that were already sliced open on top. And it seems a lot of my mail gets 'lost' There's this one lady too that will grill me or my daughter when we go pick up a package what's in it? what's that for? I think it's totally unprofessional for her working at the post office to be doing that, makes me wonder what she's up to.
