K-Mart Game suspended

From the site:

"We've become aware that third parties have been attempting to unfairly participate in the Kmart online Win a $20 Gift Card Every 10 Minutes instant win Promotion. In order to insure a fair playing field for our customers, we have elected to suspend this game."

It's a shame a game with all these prizes has been ruined for those of us whom play by the rules.

Sounds like the Automated Sweepstakes Entry Sites ruined this one for us. If it comes back, we'll probably see a security code or captcha requirement to block these entry service sites.

There was a captcha for this one.

This:

"In order to insure a fair playing field for our customers, we have elected to suspend this game"

Made me think they ran this for a small, select group, and when it got picked up by sweeps/freebie sites, it defeated their marketing purpose?

There was definitley something wrong going on with this sweep, but I think it was hackers.

One day last week when I tried to enter, I got this response..........

This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to kmartinstantwin.sweeply.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

They were advertising this sweep all over facebook, and on their website, so I don't think it was just directed towards a small group/certain group of people.

I never entered the sweep, so I didn't know it had a captcha. I focused on the 3rd party statement and assumed (never a good idea) that automated entry sites were the problem.

lol you & me both curmudgeon  :crazytongue:

I remember this happening on a Coca-Cola Sweepstakes sweepstakes one time where some people were bragging on a forum site of how they entered using over a 100 emails with some program they created, and one of them was posting all the screen shots. I sent the links to those pages to Coca-Cola, because they would be able to use the screen shots (assigned I.D. numbers) themselves to find out who the person was.

I would pass on the link to that page also to Kmart in case they don't already know about it.

Wonder if all the sweepstakes cheats are gong to put that site in their "favorites" now. Why'd I ask that question? Think I already know the answer.

[glow=red,2,300]Un-FREAKING-Believable that they even have their own website to brag about it, and pass along their cheating information![/glow]

What I cant believe is that if you check out their website, they actually have a tab to click on that states their forum RULES----does anyone else see the irony in that?!?!?!?!

I honestly had no idea that websites like that existed!!! How do people live with themselves?! It kind of makes me wonder if sweeping is worth it, what are my chances of winning honestly when there are others out there finding ways to win dishonestly?

I won my $20 Gift Code early in the game (it was a really long string of numbers - the cashier had to call the manager to enter it correctly after she failed three times).
Now that I read about the game closing and all the cheating, I feel that:
Since I won without being a cheater,
it just makes the win that much sweeter.
Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

LOL. Hilarious! Thanks for the laugh, I needed it! Congrats on your honest win!

Since it was a 1st or 2nd hit when I googled this, I figure people who would think to cheat could easily find these sites :nono:

I used to get VERY angry when I'd learn of cheating, then I realized that that anger was upsetting me & ruining my enjoyment of sweeping so I let it go.

While it's disappointing to have a sponsor pull a sweeps, it reassures me that they are paying attention!!!
