LuckyMag prize issue & general question

On Aug 19, I got a letter stating I won a 3pc Sonya Dakar skincare set. I was so excited because I REALLY was hoping to be one of the winners. It said to contact them by the 23rd. I emailed the same day they mailed me the notification. Yesterday I was getting antsy since I hadn't received anything yet. It has only been a month and I tried to find the rules to see I'd it stated how long it might take to receive...I know some take 8-10 weeks and sometimes more. I didn't find anything, so I sent another email just to check on status. I received one back today saying "you needed to contact us us by Aug 23 as stated in original emai. Sorry." I wrote back, forwarded my original email from Aug 19 and was told that they'll give me a free skin consultation.

My question isn't so much what should I do because I guess it's tough luck at this point, but I would like to know how you handle things like this....like should I have asked them to contact me to confirm that they received my original email? Do they usually send a reply to a confirmation or do you just assume that it was received and your prize is being processed and will get to you when it gets to you? At what point do you contact for a shipment status if you can't find in the rules how long it will take you to receive? Some things I have received the next week and there are some things I won in July that I'm still waiting for.

Mainly I'm bummed cause I LOVE these skincare product wins. It just makes me think, should I re-contact the wins that are outstanding just to check the status, make sure I didn't end up in a spam folder, or just chalk thisnup to one of those thing I'm sure everyone experiences during their sweeping?

Thanks so much.

Re: LuckyMag prize issue & general question

They've always confirmed receipt of my e-mail, but if not I would have e-mailed before the deadline and ask them to confirm.

I think you should push them to honor your original prize in this situation though. Make sure you sent it to the right e-mail address originally and responded in the manner they asked you to (if they said respond by phone or fax, then you should do that). If you did what you were supposed to, you should e-mail them again saying you are disappointed because you were selected as a winner and fulfilled your obligations but aren't receiving your prize.

Re: LuckyMag prize issue & general question

I emailed per their request (it said I could email or phone) to the email they provided. The notification came from Sonya Dakar company and not Lucky Magazine itself. At first I thought it might be a scam of some sort because it congratulated me on being one of the winners but the said "while supplies last", which I thought was odd for a sweepstakes that has a set amount of winners. I did google the company, the email and the phone number that was provided and it all turned up legit, so I emailed back my mailing info and stating how thrilled I was to get to try this set. Should I contact Lucky Mag? Is it normal to be contacted by the company directly vs. the magazine who is sponsoring? I won sandals from Aeropostale from Glamour Mag, and Glamour was in contact and the package was from the Glamour office.

Sorry so many questions, but just started this in June, so still a newbie!!

Thanks for your input. It's really appreciated and this board is a great place to learn from.

Re: LuckyMag prize issue & general question

I always try to check to make sure a reply email was received when one is requested. I wait a day or two after the first one then send another asking if it was received.
