Making Candle Holders

My dh said too much computer time for me.
So he took me to the garage and put me on a lathe.
Never used a lathe before.
I am now learning how to make round candle holders out of big square chunks of wood.

I must say it pretty cool.
I hope to finish some to give a Christmas Gifts.
Maybe I will do an MOC with them as the prize (when I get good enough)

Intervention, eh? Nasty business there.

Don't worry, the CDT's* will last only a couple of months. I hear that lots of Doritos and Bliss Chocolates help ease the worst of the symptoms.

 Did he use Velcro to strap you to the spindles? Sounds a bit harsh to me.

*Computer Delirium Tremens (colloquially, the CDTs, "the horrors", "the fear", or "the rats"; afflicted individuals referred to as "jitterbugs" in 1980s Silicon Valley slang; literally, "shaking delirium" or "trembling madness" in Latin) is an acute episode of delirium that is usually caused by withdrawal or abstinence from Sweepstaking or chronic blog usage. When caused by general computer use, it occurs only in individuals with a history of constant, long-term CRT exposure. Occurrence due to Sweeps or Blog withdrawal does not require as long a period of consistent intake of such behavior. Prior use of both tranquilizers and alcohol can compound the symptoms and, while extremely rare, is the most dangerous, especially if untreated.

 Sometimes, I feel like I need an intervention. :crazytongue: What a great husband to intervene with a fun project.

The computer is safer...:) a lot of people on the allergy list with severe wood allergy and sap allergy had been amateur wood workers. Proper masks are essential to avoid long term illness.

My husband covered most of the safety tips listed - he missed "The use of alcohol is another matter. Using any machinery after drinking should be avoided."

Going out there again after dinner - and work on my candle holders! Then will drink my wine.

So I think I'll go lick some shopping cart handles :crazytongue:

George Carlin did a bit about swimming in the East river {?} when they were kids, and how he never got sick!

Okay - first off, no laughing. I am kind of proud of my first candle holders!
Second - a broken nail is a serious injury Loren - I could have knocked my eye out . . . . well maybe not.

Seriously - this new project my husband started me on has been great physically and mentally.

Now without further ado - the very first z. original wood candle holders.

(yes, there will be more. I love working with the wood.)
