Non-Winner emails

 Today I was lucky enough to receive 2 Emails telling me I had won a sweepstakes. I also received one email that I was not a winner. How do you feel about these non-winning emails?

I am still undecided about them. Always feel a letdown because they look like a win. At my age it is hard to turn off the HAPPY WINNER DANCE. They really mess with the enter and forget method of entering.

On the other hand they do make me feel like they care about the sweep. I know my entries are being received. Also maybe a sign of a smaller amount of entries.

In today's case they mention another sweepstakes that had just started which I liked.

So anyone have any thoughts?

I got one too from Martha Stewart Blue Nile...."It said although you did not win......" So I was like, um...thanks for nothin :fired:

I like getting the "sorry, you did not win" emails. At least there's closure to them. What I don't like is I like to enter the facebook sweeps and the majority never post who the winner was or if they ever picked anyone. I know they're not allowed to announce the winner on facebook, but a congrats post would be nice

First time I've seen this yet. I think it's a total waste of time. On the other hand, that tactic might be able to encourage some people to join. Who knows. :)

I sort of like getting them too so at least you know your entry was received and winners were drawn. But the reality is that by the time they send notices, I've more than likely totally forgotten about that particular sweep anyways, so not sure it really makes much of a difference. Guess it would be nice if there were an option of electing to receive that notice when sweep concludes and then for really good prizes or dailies where you had a bunch of entries and were simply curious, you could get some closure. If nothing else, it gets the heart rate up for a moment because they do look an awful lot like win notices.

:sunny: I actually like the ones that are coming from FB sweeps, that way I can go and unlike them since the sweep is over.

This is typically what FB sweeps do. Personally I like receiving them because it somehow assures me that SOMEONE did win, since sometimes i do wonder about some sweeps. Plus I can unlike their page.

I treat *all* "winner" emails with cynicism because of phishing scams, but the first time it happened it did irk me. :cussing:

Now? I still treat "winner" emails with cynicism, so they don't bother me - but I'd rather them, which sometimes have a link or code to their next promo, than get the scam emails!
