Previously listed sweeps re-listed as "new"

Before I gripe; I am a true SA Fan; love the website and use it almost every day. Here comes the but, :booty"

I find contest that are re-listed as new waste my time. I've already screened them in or out of my list and when they reappear I screen again. I'd like to know why it happens, and what SA members do with these or how they feel about the re-listing.

I understand human error, but I don't think it's that. Why are they listed as "NEW" why not "previously listed", or something.

I believe that these are sweepstakes that have affiliate programs in conjunction with them where SA makes money from "click-through's" by going through the posted link; and reposting them is to increase those "click through's" which utlimately and accumulatively helps support this site financially and keep it free. At least that's my take on it! :scratch: :)

Hmm, not sure about the "click through" thing, maybe. I should have listed the latest one I noticed; listed today (07 30 10) as new but previously posted as new on about 06 19 10; The Bacardi Silver Lemonade - Perfect Patio Sweepstakes.

Same end date; just new added date

I use:

SweepsCheck: Mark those sweeps you've entered/decided AGAINST entering. Makes doing end of the month sweeps a snap! Also allows you to quickly see the newest added, as you check back throughout the day, without having to look at the ones you already decided on!!! Remember - click Save my Sweepstakes or refresh the page if you have pop ups allowed at SA, to save.


So if a sweeps is re-listed, {Sponsor request/correction/etc} I can easily pass it by for the new new ones :laughing:

I have had the same problem on one time entry sweeps, I enter it, check & save it, then a few days later I attempt to enter it again because it is listed as new and I get the message from the sponsor that I had already entered it.

delimama66 - when you "check & save it" you put a check in SweepsCheck right? So if you look to the right, you'll know right away you already entered it & when :)

TIP: I C&P "Entry Date" in the IE tool EDIT: Find in this page to quickly go through each category - those that have no date/time marked are the ONLY ones I look at & either enter & put a check in SweepsCheck or just put a check in SweepsCheck to tell me I already looked at it. :)

Yes, I do that. I have all of the "one entry" sweeps entered and every day I sort them by 'descending' - 'date added' and do the ones that were just added that day, so I know I'm only doing sweeps that are new. The next time it happens, I'll try to remember to post it.

Amy I certainly do use sweeps check. I usually check sweeps that I do enter; hence the entered on date. Do you have an insight on the "Why"? Why post items as new when they are not?

I'd like SA to post "new" sweeps as new not re listed sweeps as new. I really want to trust the info posted and posting items as new when they are not is not trustworthy.

When I go to the Salvation Army the certainly don't pretend the items are new, nor do they advertise the items as new.

When webmasters ask for changes to their listings or if we have have to make changes because of an error
they show up as new. If you use sweepscheck it shouldn't be an issue.

Amy - These 2 sweeps are both listed on the dailies and they are identical except that one was posted on 7/24 and the other on 8/3

Yup! Now I use sweeps check to check off all sweeps that I look at whether I enter them or not. I mistakenly used to use the check for only those that I entered; I thought that's how it was meant to be used because of the "entry date:" field.

So all is better in my world. :sunny: Thanks all; your input helped alot!
