Back in March I was a winner on the Budweiser SpeedTweets contest that was scheduled for August 18-20th to take part in a go kart race w/ Kevin Harvick. Originally fly up on Monday, race on Tuesday and fly home on Wednesday. A month before the trip, we were told they were flying us to Charlotte NC on Sunday to get some go kart practice Monday. Then they added a private VIP tour of the NASCAR Hall Of Fame for Mon. night along with a catered dinner while we were there. THEN, they told us they had arranged a private VIP tour of the Stewart-Haas racing facilities for Tuesday morning before going to the go kart track. While we were at Stewart-Haas racing, they said one of the pit crews were practicing pit stops out back and we were allowed to watch. After about 3 pit stop practices, we found out that this was Kurt Busch and his crew doing the practice and we got to meet Kurt Busch between the pit stops. Kurt was the Sprint Cup Champ in 2004. After this we headed to the go kart track, which was an awesome 7/10th mile road course and we were all given our own Budweiser helmets and Budweiser firesuits (to keep) for the racing that day. Kevin Harvick arrived around 2pm and we had a great greet and meet where he signed every souvenir that everyone had brought w/ them. We had a practice session, a qualifying session and then a 15 minute race. I didn't win and didn't care-I had a blast! A big celebration in the winners circle, including a beer bath and off to Lancasters BBQ for supper with bowling later that night. Now what brings this to the Winners Circle today is there were lots of interviews done there and I saw several on TV, including footage with me in it, and lots of pro photogs were there also and today FedEx brought me an 8x10 glossy of me, my wife and Kevin Harvick that I had forgot was taken, and it was autographed by Kevin Harvick! I could go on and on about this win because they surprised us at every turn with so much more than expected. BTW, I was only trying to win one of the die cast cars they were giving out as a weekly prize, didn't mean to win the trip. Thanks to Budweiser Racing, SA and The Elevation Group that put all this together for us!

It's great when they treat the winners like this. Sounded like the trip of a lifetime. Going to feature this story in our Blog tomorrow. :)

They did one other thing that I had forgotten about....While we racers were having lunch, they were going to let our guests drive the go karts and have some fun too. But the rule is no open toe shoes. About half of the guests were wearing flip flops. The sweeps administrator took down their shoes sizes and made a fast trip to the local WalMart and bought sneakers for the guests so they could drive too. How cool is that!

That is super cool, above and beyond!

Wow, they rolled out the red carpet and went over the moon for you! That is awesome. Thank you for sharing your trip highlights

Amy it was twitter thru @BudweiserRacing. I know it was on SA but I'm not sure how it was listed. Questions were asked on Fri, Sat and Sunday on race weekends starting with Daytona back in Feb. So it wasnt a daily or IW but should have been listed as twitter. I'm not a plus member so I cant save those anyway. But I remember looking at it on SA.
