if i use the sweepscheck box and then click save my sweepstakes, am I entered? how do I know that I'm entered or not?

SA lists the sweeps. To enter, you must click on the name of the sweeps. That will take you to the sponsor's website, where you follow their instructions to enter, and usually complete an entry form.
Sweeps Check is a tool at SA. It doesn't enter you. You check it to show that you have looked at a sweeps. If you enter a sweeps, in addition to Sweeps Check, you will need to click "Add To My Sweeps" to show that you have entered. Then Save.

SA links to many different sweepstakes, and each sponsor does things a little differently. Over time, you will be able to discern which ones you will like to enter, it's something that is unique to you, so it can't be taught.

Note to new sweepers: remember that you need to click on the title of the sweep to open up the entry form, fill it out, and submit it. Checking off SweepsCheck boxes does not enter you in the drawings. If you are not sure how the site works, this overview should help get you started:
