He should have stuck to getting inspiration from the game. Silent hill the movie was a big disappointment. The documentary does look interesting though.

There were parts of it that kept my attention and got me interested, but there were some parts that left me like "that was dumb to stick in there". The biggest let down of the movie was the ending where they left you hanging on whether or not they were dead or in a parallel world, no sequel, and people to this day arguing over the ending.

 The game was sooo good and it could have been a fantastic movie but... I can say it didnt even hold my interest. Maybe because Im such a fan of the games. The first one especially.

I would say the were stuck in the parallel world. There is a movie that reminds me of the game.. re-cycle(Gwai wik). The whole feel of the movie is like the game.. creepy.

We have three gaming systems, but we don't play much video games. My husband sticks to the sports games, and I like the adventure skill games like "Crash Bandicoot" and "Zelda". When we all play together, it's something like "Mario Party". I stopped playing any racing games with them, because my one son cheats and knocks everyone off the course!

I don't know anything about the "Silent Hill" games; but if they do make a second movie, I hope they improve a lot more on it. The monster in front of the church and those people in the church and the creepy dead kid went off in a different direction than where I thought the movie was going. I did like how they fed you bits and pieces during the movie of what happened to the town and its people and its history. They should have stuck with that throughout the movie instead going off in different directions.

 my kids cheat too.

the monster and the kid are from the games. Its like they tried to combine elements from the games but make it not like the games.. it was weird. I still have my original silent hill game. I take very good care of it. Its hard to find except for ebay and its still kinda pricey for a 10 year old game.

In other words, they shouldn't try to make movies out of video games! Isn't it usually the other way around!

I really thought it was going to be along the lines like "The Ring" or "The Grudge".

yeah most movies based on games stink. There have been a bunch besides silent hill... doom, alone in the dark, resident evil, mortal kombat, street fighter, tomb raider, bloodrayne, hitman, max payne, Final fantasy....Those are the ones I know, there are others.. plus they are making a metal gear solid movie.. yeah! :headbang: gears of war.. yeah! :headbang: and the prince of persia.. yeah! :headbang:

I think they tried go along the lines of the ring or the grudge but messed it up like they always do.. The original the ring(Ringu) and the grudge(Ju-on: The Grudge) are far superior to the remakes.

I've only seen "Resident Evil" out of those, but I don't know which one or even how many of those they made. I wasn't impressed with the one I saw. It was so predictable and the storyline is so old and overused. I guess they run out of ideas and recycle storylines but just in a different genre, situation, or location.

Plus, I'm not big on woman playing the hero of the movie. I can't buy into some scrawny chick being tough!

...and how come their makeup is always perfect!

They are remaking Let the Right One In. I think its going to be set in Denver....I know I'm not thrilled.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cussing: I will stay far, far away from that. There is no way it will be good. Let the right one in should never, ever be remade. Its bad enough that the US dvd release of it screwed up the subtitles.. how difficult is it to get the subtitles right? They are supposed to have future copies right. so im waiting until they do before I buy it.

And denver? are you kidding me. geez, Hollywood is such a joke. how much you wanna bet they sex up the kids?

yeah the makeup, hair.. its all perfect. 4 resident evil movies counting degeneration(animated). They are alright. I like the second one the best. I love, love, love the games though.

After a number of years of copyright disputes with the production company where the CEO was arrested and property confiscated, Dee Snider is reprising his "Capt. Howdy" "Strangeland" role in "Strangeland: Disciple". I know there were people who liked the first one and others that didn't, but we're biased when it comes to Dee! :headbang:

yeah its a little strange indeed. but no more so that a lot of the movies I really like. do you like rob zombies movies too?

The end of "House of 1,000 Corpses" drove me nuts. I hate when they end like that. The girl, the only survivor, goes through all that just to end up in the car with zombies. I couldn't deal with a lot of parts of it. So, I was doing the back and forth clicking!

Dee hanging from meat hooks gave me shivers up my back--like what that must feel like!

I'm not so much a fan of modern horror. I prefer the old-school stuff. The new stuff seems to be all for shock value. I'm still trying to figure out what that unseen thing that kept coming after everyone in the woods was in "Evil Dead".

If you arent so much into the shock value, in your face kind of horror you really should check out some of the asian horror movies. with most of those its what you dont see that scares you. I like all kinds of horror.. bloody and twisted like inside and martyrs and the old scary movies like evil dead and psycho and everything in between.

evil dead is classic. love it. not a big fan of house of 1,000 corpses.. I dont think its good enough to go yeah, that was cool but not bad enough to go yeah, that was cool. weird I know but some movies are just so bad they are sooo good.

cheesy is good  its scary though too thats why its so good. If you dont mind subtitled movies, some people do, then you should check out some asian horror.. its suspenseful and will make you jump. They dont rely so heavily on CGI, its all about the spooky atmosphere, the weird noises, and things you dont see.. while not a horror movie im watching the mutant chronicles right now. will post the good or bad of it when its over. so far its uh, interesting.

The Mutant Chronicles~ B ~ hmm, what to say.. I did enjoy it. It kept my interest which is always good. It has a decent cast Thomas Jane,Ron Perlman, Devon Aoki and my favorite Sean Pertwee.. loved him since I saw him in dog soldiers(great movie BTW). The CGI isnt the greatest but this movie obviously didnt have a huge budget. I can over look that. The story is alright. This could have been a really great movie but its a little stingy on details and the ending seemed rushed and thrown together.

in a nut shell its set in the future but not in a typical way, its like the human race went backwards  . The world is separated and run by 4 corporations always fighting for control. During one skirmish they break the seal that has kept the "machine" looked away for hundreds of years. The mutants escape and basically try to wipe us out. A few good men and women must stop them, destroy the machine and save the earth.

so, I guess I will say I really liked it. It has some really good gore also. I would watch it again.

my favorite Sean Pertwee.. .

Serious? I talked to his dad for over an hour once (he'd got started talking about Peter Sellers during Q&A and actually ran us down in the hall to keep it up)! Interesting family of actors....

yep im serious  After I saw dog soldiers I tried to see everything that he was in. He's an underrated actor for sure. I have seen his movies but he does a lot of tv and I cant find all of those episodes. I have gotten lucky and found some. I have a thing for the brits ya know. Thats cool about his dad.

It sounds like they incorporated a little bit from "Time Machine".

I saw a movie last year that I must have missed in the '70's called "The Sentinel (1977)". It starred Jeff Goldblum--one of those deals when you don't realize someone well-known now was in something(s) earlier until you see it again after they became famous!

Another classic horror.
