The Mutant Chronicles~ B ~ hmm, what to say.. I did enjoy it. It kept my interest which is always good. It has a decent cast Thomas Jane,Ron Perlman, Devon Aoki and my favorite Sean Pertwee.. loved him since I saw him in dog soldiers(great movie BTW). The CGI isnt the greatest but this movie obviously didnt have a huge budget. I can over look that. The story is alright. This could have been a really great movie but its a little stingy on details and the ending seemed rushed and thrown together.

in a nut shell its set in the future but not in a typical way, its like the human race went backwards  . The world is separated and run by 4 corporations always fighting for control. During one skirmish they break the seal that has kept the "machine" looked away for hundreds of years. The mutants escape and basically try to wipe us out. A few good men and women must stop them, destroy the machine and save the earth.

so, I guess I will say I really liked it. It has some really good gore also. I would watch it again.

It sounds like they incorporated a little bit from "Time Machine".

I saw a movie last year that I must have missed in the '70's called "The Sentinel (1977)". It starred Jeff Goldblum--one of those deals when you don't realize someone well-known now was in something(s) earlier until you see it again after they became famous!

Another classic horror.

yeah I think they stole a few ideas.. but thats ok. it was worth watching. I dont think I have seen the sentinel. I dont care for Goldblum. IMO he isnt really an actor. He plays himself. He plays the same guy, the same way in every single movie I have ever seen him in. kinda like jim carey. the same guy over and over again :sleepy: I checked imdb and it has Christopher walken in it so I will check it. love Christopher walken.

Jeff Goldblum doesn't have a main part in it. He plays the photographer doing the model shots. I just love Christopher Walken and that crazy hair of his. He can play very serious or completely hysterical roles.

He is one of my favorite actors. I love him in the fatboy slim weapon of choice video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WW8flwpH-Q

I've never seen that before. I don't even know what or who a Fatboy Slim is.

I like his Saturday Night Live "Cowbell' and "The Lovers" segments.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans - As much as I hate to admit it, I actually liked this one more than the other two. Even WITHOUT Kate Beckinsale. What's wrong with me?

 cowbell.. hilarious.

I agree. I liked the third one the best. The first one was good, the second one was lame but the third one was great. I really liked it. eh, who needs beckinsale anyway?Rhona Mitra fills in nicely as a female lead.

I felt bad for the lycans  vampires had it coming.

To Tired to Die. This is one of those art films you're either going to love or hate, no middle ground. Its got Takeshi Kaneshiro (speaking English!) and Mira Sorvino...and heck, here is the trailer...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPyxWfm6ZUU

I loved it but I would watch 90 min of Takeshi Kaneshiro eating dirt :crazytongue:

I havent seen that. its going on my watch list.

forgot to add the movies I watched. talking about sean pertwee got me wanting to watch a few of his movies.

for probably the hundredth time..

dog soldiers~ A ~ This is a werewolf movie. a good one. unlike a lot of British movies(especially ones targeted for American audiences) that have the characters use a non regional dialect these actors dont so if you dont watch a lot of british movies the accents can be hard to understand. some are thicker than others. Its one of the things I really liked about the movie. I love accents. anyway, The movie takes a little while to get going but once it does its great.

Wilderness
~ C ~ violent teens are sent to a island for a little punishment/growing experience.. after a fellow inmate kills himself. unfortunately they aren't alone. Its a decent teen slasher kinda movie. not great but watchable.

botched~ D~ I think I have talked about this one before.. its a comedy/horror, or was supposed to be. a thief(Stephen Dorff) finds himself trapped in a building after his heist goes wrong. The thing that bothered me about this was there were some great lines but they were given to the worst actor. He delivered them in a way that was just awful. It killed the movie for me. I will have to find what I said before about this one. Im not sure why I watched it again.

Something else for your watch list :sunny: (if you haven't already seen it)
Parents
http://www.hulu.com/watch/13289/parents#

"In this bizarre and very black comedy set in 1950s suburbia, Michael Laemle comes to suspect that his conventional parents have a little secret which they have kept from him"

I describe it as "Leave it to Beaver" meets David Cronenberg's "Spider"

I've seen it. comedy/horror is probably my favorite genre. I didnt like spider at all. it was sooo slow and confusing. I really like Ralph Fiennes and Gabriel Byrne but this movie.. I dont know. I think I talked about this one before too. I will have to check.

ETA~ found it
Spider~ ummm, dont recommend this.. its weird and not at all entertaining. I love Ralph Fiennes and Gabriel Byrne but even they couldn't save this movie from being a snooze fest.

I watch a lot of movies.

Monsters vs Aliens ~ C+

I recently took my daughter to the theater, courtesy of an IW of movie cash. She enjoyed it, but it didn't do anything for me. Animated films aren't my cup of tea, unless they are extraordinary... this one wasn't.

It was nice to go out on a Mommy/daughter date... we so seldom get to do that anymore now that we have the baby. We split a foot-long at subway afterward (another IW) and had a great time.

sounds like you had a nice time. free food too? nice. I havent seen monsters vs aliens. We arent real big on the animated movies either..pixar yes, heavy metal.. uh yes! The kids pixar, me heavy metal.. just wanted to make that clear.

X-men origins wolverine~ A ~ Great movie. My only complaint was that they didnt show Gambit enough
drooling.gif
...

Hush~ D ~ British thriller. A young couple see a naked, screaming women in the back of a truck while going down the road..The acting is pretty decent in this but its so predicable and poorly written. There are a couple of things that were unnecessary to the story and the ending was just blah. This could have been an above average thriller if the story was kept together a little better. It leaves to many unanswered questions.

From within~ D ~ one of the 8 movies to die for.. yeah, not so sure about that. This one is about a town of people who suddenly start committing suicide. There are curses involved and some really crazy, scary townspeople. The acting is pretty bad and the plot has been done before. The only good thing about this movie is thomas dekker. Its got a little bit of good gore and tries to be shocking and spooky but doesnt really deliver.

I watched Ghosts of Girlfriends past last night. Very cute but a little cheesy in spots and a little too much sexual content but all in all a cute movie.

Was in a dark comedy mood. my favorite type of movie

Death at a funeral~ A ~ British dark comedy. I never get tired of this movie. its hilarious. its a funeral(duh) and someone wants to expose a secret about the recently deceased. The family, specifically the 2 brothers, cant let that happen. Insanity ensues. This movie has a great cast of characters.. uncle alfie(grouchy and funny as hell) Simon( straight laced kinda guy normally but accidentally takes a psychedelic drug and becomes not so straight laced.) All of the characters add something to this movie.

Just Buried~ B ~ A guy inherits his fathers business( a funeral home) only to find out that well, business isnt doing so good. No one is dying and those that do arent using this funeral home.. solution? start killing people to keep the business afloat.

Fritt vilt II(cold prey 2)~ B ~ A very well done film from norway. A women is found who says all of her friends are dead along with the killer. She is taken to the hospital while the police go to where she says the bodies are and bring them back to the hospital. Unfortunately one of them isnt dead. This movie is reminiscent of Halloween Sweepstakes, friday the 13th, my bloody valentine... a slasher flick. only this one is better than most IMO. The acting is good and its filmed well. The camera work is pretty cool as well as the sound effects. I jumped more than once.

It is subtitled. You dont need to watch the first one to get this one. It stands on its own.

I'm trying to find out the name of a movie. I believe it's from the '70's. Passengers board a plane, the windows are covered, the passengers find out that they are all flying to different destinations, and finally realize that they are all dead. The plane lands on an island with a hotel...

Anyone, anyone!
