School letting out-Join me in a back to school goal

Do your children have gently used backpacks they won't be using in the next school year? My kids are on a 2nd backpack for the year and the backpacks they have now are in excellent condition. Let's remember the less fortunate children who might not be able to take a backpack to school next year, don't toss the backpacks your children have now out!

*Clean the backpack
*Fill it with supplies (Paper, pencils, glue, etc.)
*Add a box of snacks for the children to take to school

Then find a local organization that is doing a back to school drive and anon. ask them to donate to a less fortunate child OR do research and quietly leave the backpack at a child's doorstep with a little note wishing them luck in the next school year. Let's not forget these children who need the extra hand up next year.

Will you join me in this goal? I am donating 2 backpacks full of supplies and snacks sometime this summer. I might toss in some new socks or toy for the child who receives them. I am making 1 boy and 1 girl pack.
 
:sunny: That's great Miki! They have an organized backpack donation here so people can drop off backpacks and/or supplies. Perhaps if your local area doesn't already have one, you could start one and help more kids.
 
I wouldn't know where to start on organizing my own backpack donation center, I also don't have enough room for the donations. I will call around and see if anyone has any extra backpacks they don't need so that I could make up extra's. There are a lot of poor families in this area who deffinately could use an extra hand up.
