Should I enter blog contests?

I have only been sweeping seriously for about a year now, and I have won several very nice prizes. For the most part, I have not entered blog contests, but over the last couple of weeks I have started looking at them a little closer. I notice that most of the blogs offering prizes are aimed mainly at women, and I am faily sure that no blog with "Mommy" in the title considers a 50 year old man as their target audience. In fact, on a couple that I did enter, I seemed to be the only guy entering at all. I am wondering if any of you think that this is something that should be considered; that is, if I am not really interested in the blog content, should I enter the contests. My wife says I worry too much about these type of things, but I would still like to hear your opinions.
 
I would say....if it's a prize you can use for yourself or as a gift, why not? If a company that's target audience was males (like Old Spice) many of us women would enter if the prizes were appealing. Just my opinion.
 
There are men who enter and win these blogs. Although, some prizes are targeted towards woman and children, a lot of prizes are not. Such as vacuum cleaners, steam mops, gift cards, hotel stays, and on and on. They get great prizes from companies to give away.

Plus, just as I enter for prizes for my husband, you can enter for prizes for your wife. :)
 
I have won Blog Prizes really easily without many entries. You can even create custom blog categories in Sweepstakes Plus - Custom My Sweepstakes like, "Blog - Enter Daily" or "Blog - Unlimited entry" and this will help your effectiveness. :)
 
I would say, go for it. There are great giveaways going on on blogs right now that would appeal to men & women. (Say, the $50 Western Union (Visa) GCs being given away on over 20 blogs!) And there are blogs out there that would be more appealing to men (A Concorde Carpenter Comments comes to mind)(yes, that blog has giveaways. Tools. Yay!)
Plus, I think most bloggers understand a lot of their traffic comes from sweepers. A giveaway helps their stats like crazy. That's one of the reasons bloggers have giveaways. From a personal point of view, I welcome any & all sweepers. Don't care if you comment, follow, or anything. If I have a giveaway up that you like you are welcome to enter it.
 
I say definitely enter blog sweeps! The odds are great, and for me, regular sweeps wins were really on the decline (that's when I started entering blog giveaways and won!), and ultimately started my own blog. Good luck everyone!
 
I believe all the bloggers would welcome you! Feeling similar as you, I'm not a "mommy". However, I am running a household, home business, have lots of kids come here and love my nephews and nieces and the main thing is the sponsors offering the item for the giveaway are seeking exposure. Plus the more entries and followers they have, the more successful their review blog becomes.
Not all the blogs are parent related, many art, garden, fashion and cooking blogs which are ones I enjoy too. Seeing tech blogs more now also.

They take more time to enter but like them because they are personable, and feel like I'm making some on line friends too :) I try to support the artists when I can and make purchases.

oh, I enter contests all the time for "men" items. Games and clothes for my boyfriend but the tools are for me :laughing:
 
I would agree that 'most' blogs will welcome you, but there is one 'mom' site that is listed here that after I registered for the site, they canceled my registration. I emailed support after I could no longer log in and was told in no uncertain terms that the site was for mothers only. They actually had a lot of recipes and stuff that I was interested in, so they actually did lose a reader, but I guess I am not suppose to see all the secret mom stuff that is discussed there. Can you imagine what might happen if a man was to learn how to make a meal kids would like? I believe at that point the terrorists have won.
