Text message spam from porn dating service warning

Ok, I don't know who else is going through this but, listen ladies. If your husband receives a text from someone and after the message it has a dating service with porn pictures DON'T think he is messing around.

Here is the story. Around 9:30 tonight, dh received a text message. It was from some [email protected] (I emailed it, came back as undeliverable) with a message about being alone tonight and all that and then had a website listed. Needless to say, my dh freaked and started pleading that he didn't know what was going on. I didn't either but, I honestly did not think it was him. I started researching and went to the site. Thank goodness my kids wasn't around when I did it. *gasp*

Anyways, he went to bed before I started to research. Well, I personally just received a text on MY phone from a different girl, same message but, different name. Someone sold our phone numbers out. I don't know who did it, where these messages are coming from or what. There is no phone number, just some texting number which I am in the midst of researching also.

Just a bit of warning to the ladies (and gentlemen) don't think your SO is messing around, something stinky is going on and people are being spammed by text.

The numbers don't have to even be sold. Information like this occasionally gets hacked off of sites.

That's nothing. You wouldn't believe how many times I accidentally found myself on those porn sites from doing simple searches. Nothing on the link will even give any inclination that it's a porn site; and when you go into the site, all these other windows start opening that even a popup blocker can't stop. "Lingerie" was a biggie for bringing them up!

A search on the word "pancreas" used to lead to a site which had a picture I sincerely hope was faked. :cry:That, along with Verotica 4, still haunts my nightmares. There are some visual images you just wish you could go in there and yank back out.... :error:

I know! Some of the searches I have done have brought up some, ummmm intresting results and pages, lol. Even some that seemed innocent wasn't so once opened.

I read on another forum that this is a new was to spam people, by texting them (in response to my post). It's going to cause a lot of problems with some couples out there. Tacky and tasteless. I wish there was a way to stop them.

Believe me, I am FAR from a prude but, when it comes to our cell phones, that is taking it too far. Especially since you have to pay .15 each message or when some people are sensitive to this sort of thing.

I wouldn't be paying for those messages. Did you contact your wireless service about what happened?

No, it is a prepaid Cell phone so I am stuck paying for any garbage that comes through. :cussing: I use AT&T/Cingular go phones.

I would contact them to see if they can handle the complaint or at least direct you to who a complaint like this should be reported to.

When Caitlyn was little I used to buy all these little outfit that I just loved and I got on the internet to search for some of the them. I didn't have any trouble with Zoodles, Austin & Ashley, and le Top ~ however, my search got interesting when I put in "Tickle Me"

If you ever notice, too, is that the little blurb under the heading link doesn't seem to have anything to do with anything on the porn site. Well, at least some of them--the ones I click on, of course. Oh, and watch the little cutsie words you use to find things for your little ones. Imagine what "doggie" and "horsie" have mixed in with the search results.

Why do I get this strange feeling that someone somewhere is typing in all of these words we're posting!!

I have no doubt that someone will try!! All I can say is YUCK!!!

Even with prepaid phones you can complain. The prepaids use a specific carrier and they can take action to block the problem callers. Kinda like I'm blocked out of another site, only less effective :crazytongue:

Thanks, I will contact them and ask what can be done. I did keep the text so that I could use the #'s if I needed to.
