To DECORATE or NOT to DECORATE

 ahhh the SAME ole To decorate  or NOT :nono: decorate your sweepstakes entries & envelopes... How many DO  & HOW... or NOT... :nono: Are you Gary Glittter??? :headbang: or are you :sunny: Colorful & brite or you Dont worry be HAPPY  decorater  AND give a sign if you ever WON  with your ENVELOPE all DECORATED

I often wondered the same thing. Do decorated envelopes win more?
A couple of times I used glitter and I still didn't win. I always check the rules first, because sometimes it will say "a plain white envelope #10" and I make sure I use a plain white envelope, nothing fancy. I don't know if they will disqualify for fancy , smancy, but, I'm not willing to take the chance for the cost of a stamp (and the cost will keep going up, feel like the cost of stamps is always going up)

But, I often wondered do decorated envelopes win more contests? Love to hear from people on this subject.

Decorate envelopes for local contests. Save your money for national ones.

The local contests are more likely to be hand picked by someone who may be swayed by something eye-catching and flashy. The national contests are run by professionals with a big legal department, and will ensure that the process is as randomized as possible, so there is no preference given based on things like flowery handwriting or beautifully decorated cards and envelopes.

First and foremost, anyone picking a winner based on how an envelope is decorated is more than likely violating their own rules making it a legality issue.

I had read elsewhere that the way mailin's work is as envelopes are received, they are marked/assigned with a number (they are not opened). The numbers are entered into the computer along with online entries if there was an online entry option. When it comes time to pick a winner, the computer randomizes it. If one of the numbered envelopes is picked as the winner by the computer, the envelope is pulled and opened to find out who the winner is.
