Tornados in Arkansas...

Folks in north and central Arkansas...keep an eye to the sky and an watch your local t.v. weather reports...a tornado touched down about 10 miles north of me, in Bee Branch, near Damascus. Storm damage has been reported. There is also reported storm damage in Morrilton...west of Damascus, along I-40. And now, another severe thunderstorm is near Greenbrier (my home) and Guy.

Anyone in these areas should prepare to take cover immediately! Hope everyone is okay.......

Stay safe sticks! watching the ticker now and there are a lot of warnings going on. We are just on watch at this moment.

Our sirens have already went off and lightening is getting bad!

Sticks, did I see a report where 7 people were killed today? I hope everyone in your area is safe! You guys have been hit really hard also!

Tracey ~ completely me...what is like your way?

calm here except for the STUPID DOG!! But thats another story. Hope you are doing alright.

 All goes well here where I live. A tornado roared through Damascus this morning, which is about 10 miles north of my home; and 7 miles north of my parent's home...but the really severe weather missed us all...thankfully. But wow! Seven people dead here, with 29 official tornado reports in Arkansas alone!

Arkansas has been pounded by Mother Nature this year, and the hits just keep on coming.

 Thanks for checking in Sticks! I've been thinking about you all day praying that all was well.

These tornado warnings are killing my nerves. Under one yet, again. I swear this has been one heck of a day/night. Glad you all are safe! Hope your family is safe as well.

No

I wish they would set up shelters out this way. I have the closet lined and ready and watching the news to see how close it is. I wish it was daylight so that we could see.

Whew, I am sure glad last night is over. Hope everyone is fine. It's pretty here today, go figure! We lost power not long after I posted my last and it didn't come back on until about 3:30 or so, I laid on the couch and finally conked out.

Oh geeze, that is not good. Having seen what a tornado can do close up I would not feel comfortable in anything less than a bomb shelter.

Thanks for your concern....all is safe here now. Arkansas has taken a pounding from Mother Nature this year. There must be some bad karma swirling around this state. Or, it could be Wolfie's increasingly stale One Ton that is occupying Mother Nature's time and incurring her wrath. One Ton must be destroyed.

On a more serious note, back in the day people built homes around here with storm shelters. Today, most new homes do not come with storm shelters, and I feel this is a big mistake...especially in Tornado Alley. Modern homebuilders should think about why their elders built shelters along with their homes back in the day. More shelters should be built, as more new homes are built.

Sticks ~ Like I said before...WHAT HAVE YOU DONE??? Wait a minute, don't answer that! I don't think I wanna know  I am so glad that you are alright though!

There are several old storm shelters around here. I have played in many when I was young ~ Momma was scared to death of storms and we would go to the neighbor's house when I was little and I thought they were the neatest things ever!! I would love to have one! I wonder what it would cost to build one now

Around here, there are ads in the local papers for storm shelters, beginning at around $2700, depending on the type and size I suppose. One of my neighbors has a storm shelter in his backyard, which he never uses. If it were closer to my home, it would be worth running to in the event of a tornado here. But it is too far to get to in a storm.

Is that like the full size ones? I have seen the pod looking things popping up for sale around here. I guess you would be safe, but I think I would have a panic attack being in there with my kids and hubby just because they are so SMALL...I like being out during the storms anyway. Jimmie gets mad at me for sending the kids downstairs and then going outside to watch what is going on!
