Tornados in Arkansas...

Is everyone ok? It hasn't hit here yet but, Arkansas is getting it bad right now.

 Sticks checking in from Greenbrier! All is well here so far. However, a huge thunderstorm cell is moving SE from Clarksville, where there have been reports of a tornado...just a few minutes ago. These storms are just getting wound up here, so I expect bad storms here later on tonight.

Stuttgart, in SE part of state...was hit by a tornado a few minutes ago...confirmed reports of major damage in the city. A brief tornado touchdown hit El Paso, about 30 miles from where I live. A tornado reported on the ground in the Bald Knob and Augusta area.

I've got my flashlight handy, in case the power goes out. It is so humid and warm here...I cannot remain in my home long without some cool air, so I may end up sleeping in my truck, with the AC running. :crazytongue:

Everyone in Arkansas stay alert tonight. These storms are heading into Mississippi and Memphis right now, or soon...and they will only get stronger as they meet that warm delta air.

Sticks, do remember to keep the window cracked a bit to avoid any potential carbon monoxide poisoning if you have to utilize the "sleeping in truck" option :sleepy:
Stay safe!

Thanks for checking in Sticks. We are under a tornado warning right now, watching the skies and alerts. Stay safe.

The humidity has went crazy here in the last couple of hours...we are under a slight risk for a tornado, but I am telling you that it is more humid here than the night it came through and killed those people just down the road from me. I have all the windows open and fans in...

Everyone stay safe!

Yes, thank you for the advice. I do keep a window cracked when sleeping/dozing in the truck...I don't like stuffiness in such a small enclosed area.

As for the storms, they came quickly, they did their damage, then moved on just as quickly. Bad weather is over now in the state. I hope everyone escaped the worst of the weather. The networks here all had constant realtime weather reporting instead of regular broadcasts (from 7pm thru 10pm newscasts).

There's even call for more nasty weather coming in Wednesday and Thursday.

Whew, it's over and we are still alive and our home still here. We knew it was trouble when a sheriff came and warned us by flashing siren lights and a light towards the clouds. I went in and laid on top of my kids. All I could think about was "Lord, please don't take my babies"...among other prayers. It was pretty nasty but, I am thankful it didn't hit us. Only damage that I know about is the trashcan being tossed into the parking lot. It's too dark to look around. The backyard is flooded and I know lightening struck back there but, I don't know where right now. Hubby checked all the windows in the house and store (former store). My mom was talking to me online when it got bad.

My thoughts and prayers are with those who went through this tonight and have loved ones who were struck head on with these storms. I don't know if it's over but, I don't remember the 2nd squal line coming through yet which is why I am still up.

I hope everyone is ok. So glad power is back on, it was so hot and humid. We all need showers now!

I am trying to upload pictures onto myspace. Several homes here hit last night and trailer homes torn to shreds. I didn't have the heart to take pictures of some of the homes because, there were people trying to gather up what they had left and I found it disrespectful. It barely missed us, I have never experienced anything like this. I was amazed at the damage.

It is unreal what things look like afterwards...we are 3 months post tornado here and it is still in shambles in places. They are just now putting a new roof on the school, and rebuilding some of the houses in that stretch.

I understand about thinking things are disrespectful...that is why I never took pictures. I just left that up to the newspapers and tv stations. It is just unreal how you can have something one minute and nothing the next!

Praying for all the communities hit by these storms!!

I have never seen anything like this except for on television or the internet. It looked like the tornado was bouncing if that makes sense. It didn't seem as destructive as some of the places I have seen but, it was enough to cause harm to others and homes which is really sad.
