had to attend all day concert in nj for a bunch of singers i never heard of, wanted to go to nyc but not go to concert, no cash option so good luck all
 
I think they are referring to the Lilith one. I entered and got an email saying that the grand prize changed to NY shortly thereafter. I know they have singers dropping out left and right. :( Still a trip to NY.
 
Prizes: FOUR (4) NEW YORK GRAND PRIZES: A trip for two (2) to New York City, NY for the Lilith Fair concert on Saturday, July 31, 2010. Trip package includes roundtrip coach-class air transportation for two (2) from an airport near winner's home (determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion) to New York City, NY; two (2) nights' accommodations at a hotel determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion (single room, double occupancy); car service to and from the airport and to and from the concert; two (2) VIP tickets to the Lilith Fair concert on Saturday, July 31, 2010 (seating determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion); and $500 spending money for winner only. In my experience having won a couple of trips which included tickets to a concert, tickets were left at the hotel desk and one time at the "Will Call" window of the venue. You can simply not use them and not go to the show if you so chose to do so. There was never anyone checking up on us to see whether or not we used the tickets even though we did.

Never expect a cash option on any sweepstakes unless it specifically states that as an option in the rules. I'm guessing that's why you entered. :scratch:
 
Not trying to sound mean here.....but I really wish people would NOT post when they have to turn down a big win such as a trip or a car.

I never understood what good it does to post that you won, but aren't accepting it because it's not what you thought it was, the taxes would be too much, you don't like 'such and such', you hoped they'd give you a cash option, etc.... when it's all clearly stated in the rules.

And to say you're posting so others can be on the lookout in case they win, doesn't make any sense. Aren't we always on the lookout for wins?? If we're chosen as the back up winner, we'll know it. :laughing:

Plus the fact that the trip is JULY 30, 31 rather than August which leaves a newly-selected winner very little time to do the paperwork and prepare for a trip on such short notice. :whistle:
 
Am I the only one who has to point out that we need to read the rules before we enter things? It clearly states when the winner will be notified. If that's not enough time to arrange things, then don't enter!

Yep, we had three-days' notice as an alternate winner on a trip one time to Las Vegas and could only go for one of the two nights given my husband couldn't get off Friday night with such short notice.

I did read before I posted that. I was just saying over and above the issue of money not being included with the trip, the rules would have mentioned other important details such as this. Something which was obviously overlooked.

But glad that everyone is so quick to judge, myself included. I suppose I shouldn't bother even posting. :nono:
 
I agree with you, hairbandgirl. I don't understand why people post just to let us know they had to turn down a big prize for one reason or another. I've never won anything big and to read that someone turned down a free trip to N.Y. because they didn't want to go to a concert (which they didn't have to go to anyway. BIG mistake boozoo!) makes my blood boil!
