I want to thank all of you again for your advice and tips. I am updating you on my adventure. These pics were taking today, I need to change the date on my camera.
Anyhoo, so far so good! I am making progress and happy to report that I haven't killed them....yet. :headbang:
As you can see in the pictures, the soil I purchased was crappy so I need to buy some real potted soil this weekend and try to perform "surgery" as dh called it when I transplated DD's sunflowers.
I need some planters and soil before I plant the wild flowers. I think I want to plant 9 pots in the front to give the old country store (closed down) a little charactor. One of my inlaws told me they have a bunch of old flower pots and to see them first before I buy any.
Purple Gladiolas
Planted these inside the house, I take them out in warm, sunny weather until spring. I have 5 sprouts! I think I only planted 5 of the bulbs to test first.
Daughter's sunflowers
She planted 4 seeds, one had to be replanted but, look how well her other 3 are doing!
Son's Watermelon
He planted 5-6 seeds, a couple had to be replanted but, his sprouting just started. Once they grow more I can transplant like DD's sunflowers.
Yellow Gladiolas
These are growing slowly. Only have 2 sprouts out of 5 bulbs so far. I planted these in the house and take outside on warm, sunny days until spring.
