warning! - itunes "winning" notification

I rec'd an email from "iTunes Products<[email protected]."
Subject - Thank you for buying iTunes Gift Certifcate!

Then the message states that you have rec'd an itunes gift certificate in the amt of $50.00. You need to open iTunes and Once acccount is verified, $50.00 will be credited to your acct., so you can start buying music, games, et.

It was signed - iTunes Store. You have to click on attachment for the code.

I called Apple and they confirmed it was a fraud.

The clue for me was the "attachment". The codes are generally given out in the email message. So, be careful out there!

I got one of these today also, laughed and giggled and showed my wife everything thing that told me it was a fraud. In fact, it wasnt even addressed to me! The attachment was a zip file and the header indicated a return path to a .lol dot com address. :laughing:

I got it too! It looked really fishy so I decided to google the return email address before opening the attachment. Good thing - apparently it is a virus!

:cheers: Congratulations on being savvy enough to know when you didn't really win. You guys really are on your toes! Good job!! Perhaps if we could get everyone educated on spotting these bogus emails then the crooks behind them would stop sending them out.
