WARNING to all who has a paypal acct

I have a paypal acct. for Instacash which I havent cashed out yet and my balance was 0, well today I got a bill stating that I owe over $1200, my blood pressure just went sky high one was for $955+ and another for $204+ for some place in California which I never heard of. I called immediately they are closing that one and sending me some forms to fill out so they can start an investigation and to press charges when they get the person responsible and if I want to press charges. I thought that paypal was a secure site I dont think that I want another one opened I am afraid , How they got my info I do not know but I thought that I should warn everyone that has one , goes to show you cant trust anyone. Hope this doesnt happen to anyone else Thanks I got this off my chest.
 
I'm sorry that you have to go through all this stress. Awhile ago, there was a contest that said something about crediting a win amount to Paypal. I'm not sure now exactly whether you had to give Paypal info to them on the entry form or not. It just popped up in my memory that there was something about Paypal in regards to one of our contests. Did you enter anything like that? Wishing you the best of luck in getting this straightened out.

That is very scary! ugh....and I even hate spam/scam calls :cussing:....I guess I should consider myself lucky that I just have some calls instead of this type of aggravation! Good luck getting it cleared up quickly!
 
I had this happen to me several years ago. I closed out my paypal account with that email address. Now I have a separate email account that I use just for paypal. Haven't had any problems since. I must add that Paypal took care of the problem within 24 hours and my credit card was credited. Also when I get emails into my other email accounts from Paypal, I know automatically that they are spam since those emails are not linked to my Paypal account. You might want to try this to prevent problems in the future.
 
These things happen I guess no matter how careful we are. I'm just sad to see you have to experience this. Hope it gets resolved for you.
