Wedding renewal-What did you do?

I would really like to renew my vows, we started a "new life" when we reconciled and I think it's time for a renewal.

A little background on my first wedding-

We had no money, we purchased our license and our rings.

My mother and stepfather donated to the church and minister than married us and provided our reception area in the church.

Instead of meals served, we had a "potluck" type wedding.

I wore the dress that I wore in my mother's wedding 11 months prior to mine.

I did not have a honeymoon.

My stepaunt created the most beautiful 3 tier wedding cake, my hair pieces and my flowers.

I didn't have a bridal shower.

I had people in my wedding that I "hate" now. (Yes, hate is a strong word but, if you knew the background to this you would understand)

As you can see, we had a very modest wedding. I would like to do something different this time, I would really like a "real" wedding. I know that you normally have a beautiful wedding the first time but, has any of you had a nicer renewal than the first?

Please share what you have done for the renewals.

I haven't done a renewal, but I don't see a thing wrong with having a nice one Miki...since you have moved on from the past what a perfect way to celebrate! Do what you want to do and enjoy the moment!

I understand about not liking some of the people that were in the first one...I wish some of the people in mine were different now ~lol!! I have one friend that loves causing turmoil, ya know!! If I was to do it again, it would be on a beach somewhere with my kids there! The way I feel this morning...someone other than Jimmie ~lol!!!

I think you should go all out if you want too!!!

My Aunt and Uncle renewed their vows last summer after 20 years of marriage...they had both had a rough year healthwise...my uncle had major brain surgery and my aunt has emphysyma and almost died a few times plus she had a tumor the size of a soccor ball that year too! They are both bikers so they had a biker themed wedding

Ping, a beach wedding sounds so pretty. My sister got married last year in Vegas and they renewed this year in Hawaii because, they didnt have the wedding she always dreamed about. I never heard of a 1 year renewal but.... I tried to make it to her first but, I got stranded in a snow storm. I couldn't make it to the 2nd because, I couldn't afford the thousands it would have taken to go.

Ndgal, I am unable to watch videos on here. It literally takes 20-30 minutes to watch a 1 minute clip. One of these days I will have faster internet again! I am really sorry to hear about the health problems they have been through and pray they are getting better. The wedding sounds like so much fun. I come from a family with bikers and I married a biker/cowboy. We were total opposites.

I would love a really nice wedding, I can't afford one but, maybe if I plan it out and enter some sweeps to help on items I can make it happen. The only problem I see with some things I want is the different religions/music people like here. Some of my inlaws are penticostal (sp?) and I want dancing sometime afterwards. My choice of music and the choice of several others is completely different. I was thinking that I could have a reception and then find a sitter that way I could have dancing somewhere later on with drinks and such. I think it would be a blast.

The more I think about it, the more I really want this! Now, my hubby knows I want to renew someday since we started over but, he doesn't know I am already thinking of planning it out. I should do the plans and then say "surprise!" :laughing:
