maybe I am a freak! these are just the names I find kinda funny. of course I have bands like tool, mudvayne and breaking benjamin but those arent really weird names. come on share your musical taste.

 Only heard of six of them! Never heard of the rest of them! Only saw Endeverafter open for Cinderella and Poison! Don't own anything from any of these groups! :crazytongue:

It's funny because we were talking about this just last night. My play list goes from Classical-The Planets to David Allen Coe. Of course there is Van Halen, JET, Fastway, Anita Baker, Chaka Kahn, Pink, Tim McGraw, Al Jarreau, Heart, Diddy, Fifty, and Merle Haggard in between. And we can't forget the classic: Stand By Your Man. I listen to it and it just makes me want to drink a beer and cry on someones shoulder. I don't even like beer!

We don't stray. We stay with the same influences through time--one leading right into the next wave of music. From progressive/hard rock of the '70's into the hard/heavy metal/southern rock of the '80's with the addition of the hairbands of the '80's. :headbang:

I recognized only 1 freakin name on your list!!! Oh boy, I'm getting old. I'm like liz, a 80's child also.

 Im 37. I cant help it. I just love the kind of music where they scream and cuss . what am I gonna do? :headbang:

Rocker Mama huh. :headbang:  Do you have a leather jacket and pants also? Now give me some good ole AC/DC, and I'll rock out with you.

Oh, please, please do not lump in bands like AC/DC with those newer bands. Not even in the same class. :headbang:

Now I have their Back in Black albumn in my head!! :headbang:

dont get me wrong I like 70's & 80's.. AC/DC, Guns&Roses, Def leppard(pryomania is over rated. high & dry is the better album) but it makes me feel old. I like the new stuff better.

:sunny: I'm surprised that I don't see any Korn or Hatebreed on your list! :headbang:
I was just thinking this morning, I wonder how many SA'ers remember the Singalong with Mitch. In the early 60's our family would gather around the tv and we would all sing together as the words rans across the screen.
My folks would buy the Mitch Miller albums and I would memorize all the songs to sing along. The good ole days! :headbang:

Actually, when something does become overrated, it just means it got more media praise and attention then there was interest in the actual band/album. That wasn't the case with these bands. This was an era where these bands sold mega amounts of albums. These bands have staying power and were reliable in making the record companies massive amounts of money. The newer bands come and go too quick. Interest eventually wains. So, in order to keep the money rolling, the record companies sign far more bands now than they ever had to in the past. Record sales are now showing a renewed interest in the old school groups by a new generation of kids. We go to alot of concerts, and it's really nice to see all these parents and their kids listening to the same type of music. My kids love Metallica, Alice Cooper, W.A.S.P., and so on. My oldest two are forever burning our cd's. All my little metal heads!!:headbang:

Oh my God!! I remember Mitch Miller!!

When we took our multi mega buck trip to Pizza Hut yesterday I went up to the juke and put in two dollars to play some music while we waited ~ Ashelyn was begging for AC/DC. Needless to say she lost out  but the people were staring at me before I left  I played two Elvis songs, one Def Leppard (Foolin' my favorite, but a close one with Love Bites), The Eagles, Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw!!

I'm 37 and my music tastes are extreme also! You just never know what is going to be pulled out of the hat!!
