whats the weather like where you are

They aren't canceling school there? They probably will here tomorrow morning just because of what we are suppose to get later in the day. It takes so long for the kids to get the kids home with them on separate schedules that it is really dangerous. They have the middle school and high school one hour behind the elementary as it is. Our school bus director will be watching the radars tomorrow morning to see how fast the system is moving in and go from there. We basically don't have the road cleaning equipment to make the roads safe to go if it starts getting bad!

The ice isnt as bad as I thought it would be but I still think they will cancel school. They will probably notify the news channels at the last minute. They always do.

Arkansas is in the middle of a minor ice storm. There is a bit over 1/2-inch of ice coating the trees and powerlines around here. All the roads are sheets of ice, with many road closures. I'm wondering where all the county and state ice/salt trucks are...I didn't notice any late Monday afternoon either.

The ice and sleet on the ground and covering the trees does make for a pretty scene, however. :crazytongue:

snow, ice, sleet, you name it we got it and still getting it! started out yesterday at about 55 degrees in the morning and the temp began to fall and started raining and then it went downhill from there. I think they are calling for about 3 to 6 inches by noon today. the good news is I work at a local school district and that means NO SCHOOL ! so no work for me today. yea!!!!
forgot to tell we are southern ohio

Last night it got down to a low of 16. Yesterday we hovered around 22-24 with winds up to 40 mph! (3mnkids1 can look that up on her 'wind chill' chart. But I bet we beat her pseudo-lows  ) Of course I had to be goofy and take a walk into town. (The whole area is coated in 1/2 " of ice.) So I donned my rabbit pelt Polack Cap with the ear flaps and headed out. I looked just like an extra out of that movie Fargo! Well, to make a short story long: I only slipped and busted my buns twice. Once I ended up in the drainage ditch that was filled with 2 feet of blown snow! There I was flopping around like Ralphie's little brother in A Christmas Story! Pants, shirt and shoes all filled with snow! BRRRRR! And I still had a mile to walk!

At least the wind has stopped for now. But, they are saying 3-4" of snow for tomorrow.

Before y'all start to go: "Loren's a wimp" ... remember that this is NOT the Mid-west! We are at sea level, on an island, in a very big puddle! (the Pacific Ocean). And This is NOT Nova Scotia or Maine or Uniak, Alaska!

:crazytongue: :crazytongue:

I will change my avatar pic to the one of me wearing my Polack Hat for a bit. I've tried the thing about adding a pic as a attachment but it always says it is overloaded. (probably jammed up with 'fairy dust' :crazytongue: )

It started sleeting at about 6pm last night and went all night long. Finally started mixing with snow about 1am this morning. We probably ended up with 3 or 4 inches all together. Unless we see a big warm up I doubt the kids will go back to school until after the New Year (Friday would have been there last day before the Christmas break!)

I love the new avatar pic..

Yeah, quite a work of art isn't it? Taken last xmas. (the last time it snowed here) By the glazed look in my eyes I must have been making a big dent in the rum and eggnog! :crazytongue:

Hey! You are suppose to share mister!!! I want to have that dazed and confuzzled look in my eyes also...

That reminds me ... I DO have to run out for "antifreeze" and eggnog this afternoon! The Community Theatre where I work part time is throwing their Xmas party tonight. :error: I have to go. So I figure I might as well get a jump on things. At least I'll 'look' happy. :crazytongue:
Later I'll let the rest of you frigid freezing folks know the "antifreeze" worked. :sunny:

Yesterday we got about 2" more of snow in the wee hours of the morning. Then it got up to a torrid 33 degrees. Some of the snow sorta melted then it froze up again in the afternoon. 1/2" more snow in the evening. Now it is looking like more snow and with the winds running at 15-25 mph it is pretty nippy out there.
