whiner's wall

Since whining worked so well in September, I'm going to try it again. It's been over 2 weeks since I got a win. That doesn't sound like a very long time but I've been religiously entering hundreds of sweepstakes a day. You would think I would have won something in the past 2 weeks, even if it was just a $5 gift card or a coupon for a free candy bar. Maybe my luck has run out. I had an amazing September and October. I was bound to hit a dry spell sometime. I was hoping the dry spell wouldn't hit until next year. I desperately need money for the holidays. A really nice cash win would make the holidays a little bit brighter.

I also wanted to whine about something I won in September. It was a bottle of dog shampoo worth $80. The sponsor sent it out at the beginning of October and then I got a notice from UPS that there is a $40 tariff on this $80 bottle of dog shampoo that is coming from Canada. I don't even have a dog - I was going to give it to my brother's dog as a gift. No way am I paying $40 for a prize. When the UPS guy tried to deliver it, I told him to send it back. He told me that he gets a lot of that lately. I'm debating on whether I should tell the sponsor about it or not. They should figure it out when they get the package returned to them. I'm not expecting them to do anything about it though.

It was a blog win so I don't have direct contact with the sponsor but I'll give the blogger a heads up.

Posting in this thread works great though. I won 3 sweepstakes today including 2 from Instagram - a $25 gift card from Pepsi, peppermint ice cream and a sweater from Hudsonville and holiday stocking stuffers from Sipology. It's weird how the wins come in groups. I won't win anything for weeks and then, bam, 2-3 wins on the same day. :)

I have to whine for a little bit. Not for a lack of wins, I get plenty of those, but I need to whine about not getting my wins. I'm so tired of not getting my prizes and then getting ignored when I ask about it. Back in August, I won a year supply of roses. I'm supposed to get one bouquet of roses every other month for a year. At the end of September, I emailed them and asked when I would start getting the roses. They responded a few days later and said in a few weeks. I emailed them again in November and got didn't get a response. I thought maybe they would start sending the roses at the beginning of the year so I sent another email on Jan 2 asking if they would start shipping the roses this month. No response so I sent another email yesterday and no response yet. I'm getting very annoyed and I'm going to contact the sponsor directly if I don't get a response by the end of the week. I shouldn't have to beg and grovel just to get my prize.

I also had to send multiple emails and Facebook messages to get my gift card from a Facebook sweepstakes I won in September and I had to contact Butterfinger multiple times to get them to send me the coupon I won in their instant win game over the summer.

Back in November, I was notified that I won a trip to Paris for just 1 person. I immediately filled out the paperwork and anxiously waited to hear back. The next week, I sent an email and asked if they got my paperwork and when they would start planning the trip. They said that they got my paperwork, I'm verified as one of the winners and that they were still contacting the other 3 winners. They said they would start planning the trip at the beginning of December and I would hear from them in a few weeks. I heard nothing from them in December. Last week, I sent an email and asked if they knew the exact dates of the trip yet and asked if I could bring a friend if I paid for them myself. They haven't responded yet. I'm getting a bit worried. First of all, they posted on Facebook in December that they were going to announce the winners soon but they never did. Also, why aren't they responding to me? Shouldn't I have heard something by now? I'm going on a cruise for the first few weeks of February and might not be able to check my email or be reachable by phone during that time. The trip to Paris is supposed to be in April or May. That's not a lot of time to plan a trip overseas. I still don't know if they will allow me to bring a friend. I don't even know the dates of the trip. I'm trying to be patient but it's hard when I have no idea what's going on.

I know how hard it is to be patient and frustrating if your prize never arrives. Hang Tough.

The company sponsoring the Paris trip posted the grand prize winners on their Facebook page today and I'm listed as one of the winners. At least I know they are still working on things. Their post made it sound like it's a group trip for just the 4 of us winners so I doubt they would let me bring a friend. Hopefully I get an email from them soon and we can start planning the trip.

Edit 1/15: This thread is amazing for getting results. I just got an email back from the company I won the roses from and they said the florist they work with doesn't deliver to my address. They had me pick out a local florist to use. Hopefully now I'll get my flowers.

Luckybutterfly47 I empathize with you. At least three pf my packages have been delivered to my neighbor's house. (I know because I have gotten photos of my packages on her front porch from FedEx.) I was successfully able to retrieve 2 of the packages (open and given back only when I asked about them. She stated that she just assumed someone was sending her a gift.) This morning, I discovered that another package (a prize win) had been delivered to this same neighbor on Jan. 6th. Of course, my neighbor did not inform me, and I failed to locate the email from FedEx until this morning. I inquired (of my neighbor) today about the package, and this neighbor agreed the photo of the package was indeed on her front door but that she knows nothing about it. Now, I am not sure what to do. The prize was valued at over $200. Should I inform the company who sent it to me? I contacted FedEx for information regarding the sender and got their phone number and name. If anyone else has this problem of prizes mailed but delivered to the wrong address, any suggestions would be appreciated.
